The window is open; Pats aren't going away

The ONLY thing that matters is that Manning FAILED yesterday...he blew it big time!

"IllegalContact" sounds like you're a Polian fan. Polian is THE #1 cry-baby in the NFL. So, are you a happy Patriots fan or a cry-baby fan of Manning and the Colts?

Tracy Porter agrees

don't overrate yesterdays outcome.......you repeat that 4th quarter 10 times, and manning will win 7-8 of them

You repeat the 4th quarter (remembering that the Pats start with a 31-14 lead) 10 times and the Colts win 1 or 2 of them.

Honestly, if that game was played in Indy, I think they would have won. Manning was was off last night, like he has been on the road all year long.

Indy's loss to the Pats was similar to their loss to the Eagles.

Agreed. Repeat that 4th quarter (same score, same time remaining, same opponent) and we WIN 7 out of 8.

Repeat that 4th quarter ten times and we win ten times because, I mean, it's a repeat.

Back on the thread topic...

I also can't help but be optimistic about the Pats not going away when I see guys like Woodhead playing and contributing.

I mean, the Jets apparently dropped Danny Woodhead because they had spent a 4th round draft pick on Joe McKnight and they thought that it would make them look very bad to drop him in favor of an undrafted player, even if that undrafted player outperformed him in every way imaginable. McKnight, after all, was very quick in the 40-yard dash and had played at USC rather than Chadron St.

Do you think for one second Bill Belichick cares about where you had been drafted, what school you went to, or what were you combine numbers once you are signed and you are on the team? He has no problems admitting it when he has made a draft mistake and cutting him, rather than doubling that mistake by keeping him around. Though he can give second chances and some would say too many (Crable?).

That is another reason why the Jets will never be above the Patriots in the standings for very long, along with not drafting for depth like BB does.

Yup. One of the (many) things dumb media types do is when they talk about Belichick's "arrogance." On the contrary, he is quick to admit mistakes, both through his words and his actions. Like you said, draft a guy who isn't getting it done? Oh well, it happens.

If anything, his ego is healthy, and he's secure enough to know mistakes happen. You don't compound them w/additional mistakes.

That's the way it goes with this rivalry last few years. If the 2006 AFCCG and 2008 and 2009 games were played in Foxboro, maybe the Pats win. It's been that close.

Hey, shout out to Mr. Dukes. Didn't know you were a member!
After the Pittsburgh game, I still wasn't totally on board in regards to this team being an elite team. I am now. Who do the Pats have to beat now to convince anyone, the Jets? Furthermore, this team will be dominant in two years, maybe less. Two defensive starters return next year, three additional low round picks, and more experience from a young defense. On offense, as long as Brady is at QB, our offense will score.
Detractors will post "if" to make their point. Enough said.

Replay the 4th quarter, and the Pats win 9/10
Replay the Colts' last drive, and the Pats win 7/10
Replay the Colts' last play, and the Pats win 5/10
Send the game to overtime and the Colts win the toss, then maybe the Colts win 7/10.

Love it.

The fourth quarter wasn't about Manning messing up, or Sanders being a hero. The last interception was the product of a hundred little things the Pats were doing which led to the "mistake" on Manning's part. He either threw that ball or get sacked, call a timeout, and give the kicker of theirs a long FG attempt to tie the game. He was forced into a split second decision by the entire Pats D.
