It's early, but I wanted to make a dry run to see what kind of options the Patriots could have on the board as they make their selections. More well-thought out ones will follow in the weeks ahead. This mock, unlike my usual ones, features only one trade:
Oakland - JeMarcus Russell QB LSU
Detroit - Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech
Cleveland - Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
Tampa Bay - Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
Arizona - Gaines Adams DE Clemson
Washington - Jamaal Anderson DE Arkansas
Minnesota - Amobi Okoye DT Louisville
Houston - Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
Miami - LaRon Landry S LSU
Atlanta - Alan Branch DT Michigan
San Francisco - Levi Brown OT Penn St
Buffalo - Leon Hall CB Michigan
St. Louis - Jarvis Moss DE Florida
Carolina - Patrick Willis LB Mississippi
Pittsburgh - Chris Houston CB Arkansas
Green Bay - Trade. First I had them pencilled in for Ginn. Then Lynch. Then Olsen. Then I realized that they need a lot of help, and that Carriker is on the board. Therefore Green Bay trades the #16 and #47 to New England for #24, #28, and their sixth round pick. I think this represents a win-win scenario. New England drafts Adam Carriker DE Nebraska
Jacksonville - Reggie Nelson S Florida
Cincinnati - Greg Olson TE Miami
Tennessee - Robert Meachem WR Tennessee
New York Giants - Lawrence Timmons LB Florida St
Denver - Anthony Spencer DE Purdue
Dallas - Dwayne Jarrett WR USC
Kansas City - Tony Ugoh OT Arkansas
Green Bay (from Seattle via New England) - Marshawn Lynch RB Cal
New York Jets - Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh
Philadelphia - Ted Ginn WR Ohio St
New Orleans - Dwayne Bowe WR LSU
Green Bay (from New England) - Sidney Rice WR South Carolina
Baltimore - Jon Beason LB Miami
San Diego - Aaron Ross CB Texas
Chicago - Joe Staley OT Central Michigan
Indianapolis - Paul Poslusny LB Penn St
Second round
Oakland - Brandon Meriweather S Miami
Detroit - Ben Grubbs G Auburn
Tampa Bay - Anthony Gonzalez WR Ohio St
Cleveland - LaMarr Woodley LB Michigan
Chicago (from Washington via NY Jets) - Charles Johnson DE Georgia
Arizona - Arron Sears G Tennessee
Houston - Justin Blaylock G Texas

Buffalo - Brandon Siler LB Florida
Atlanta - Michael Griffin S Texas
Carolina - Zach Miller TE Arizona St
Pittsburgh - Brandon Mebane DT Cal
New England (from Green Bay) Tough call. As much as I like Harris here, I'll take Josh Wilson CB Maryland
Jacksonville - Marcus Thomas DT Florida
Cincinnati - Eric Weddle S Utah
Tennessee - Daymeion Hughes CB Cal
New York Giants - David Irons CB Auburn
St. Louis - Brian Leonard RB Rutgers

Baltimore - Manny Ramirez G Texas Tech
San Diego - Aundrae Ellison WR East Carolina
New York Jets (from Chicago) - Tanard Jackson DB Syracuse
Tampa Bay (from Indianapolis) - HB Blades LB Pittsburgh

Green Bay - Kareen Brown DT Miami
Jacksonville - Troy Smith QB Ohio St
Cincinnati - No pick (Ahmad Brooks)
Tennessee - Dan Bazuin DE Central Michigan
New York Giants - Johnnie Lee Higgins WR Texas Tech
St. Louis - Aaron Rouse S Virginia Tech
Carolina - Kevin Kolb QB Houston

Dallas - Doug Free OT Northern Illinois
New Orleans - Rufus Alexander LB Oklahoma
New York Jets - Buster Davis LB Florida St.
Philadelphia - Tim Shaw LB Penn St
New England - Frankly, I don't know what to do. Based on Best Value, I'd give the edge to Darius Walker. But we're also in the neighborhood of Gattis, DeShaun Wynn, Paul Soliai, Stewart Bradley, Steve DeOssie, Sabby Piscitelli, and Rhema McKnight among others. After this, we only have one more pick in the top 160. It might be a little high, but let's give the Pats Zak DeOssie LB Brown, whom I like a bit more than Bradley.
Buffalo (from Baltimore) - Darius Walker RB Notre Dame
San Diego - Sabby Piscatelli S Oregon St
Chicago - Trent Edwards QB Stanford
Indianapolis - Travarous Bain CB Hampton
