Steve Burton: Can you explain the rule on back to back timeouts cuz I don't think the announcers knew what was goin on and...
BB: Well, you're not allowed to.
Steve Burton (Overlapping): What is the rule?
BB: Uh you're not allowed to do it. uh, If it, if you do it on a kicking play, if you do it on a field goal play it's a penalty like what happened in the Indianapolis game. You know they changed that rule after, after the Colts lost to us there in the opener in '04.
Uh, you're not allowed to do back to back timeouts on Offense or Defence but there's no penalty you're just not allowed to do it.
So, what should have happened is the time out shouldn't have been allowed. Um, they called the time out and then since it was an official's mistake it was a mechanics mistake then they, um, said ok you're not allowed to have the timeout and then they reset the 40 second clock to 25 seconds and went from there.
So you know, the officials made a mistake on the play. They, they, they they made it. They followed the mechanics of when they make it just like You know we all make em out there, coaches, players, everybody else. Um, they made one, they acknowledged it, they, they did the right thing.
Um, you know I was just upset because I, I didn't really know what happened. I mean I knew what happened but then they reset the clock and, you know it was 4th and 1 and we didn't really, you know get, get the kind of rush, and get everything that we were, you know we just didn't get it as quickly as we should have and I just, I thought the play should have been stopped and said ok, you know, here's what happened. And I think their feeling was, well we already blew it by givin them a timeout when there wasn't a timeout so now there is no timeout and now you gotta go and they didn't want to delay it any further by comin over and talkin about it so, you know I mean I, I understand what John did, I think he handled the situation OK.
It was just, You know just frustrating that they... you know that that mistake happened but, hey we made a lot more mistakes out there than they did so I don't really have any issue with it.
