The Strength Of This Class

it certainly is good that we have two selections in that round
Matthew Judon was a 4th Round Draft Pick. If you have a scouting staff that can evaluate talent, you can get Pro Bowl players in the 3rd through 7th Rounds (Alaric Jackson, a solid LT, was an UDFA).

Agreed. But statistically it is unusual. Better to draft high to get starters and All Pros.

True. The math backs your statement. At the same time, some teams scouts turn up gems with seemingly unusual regularity. Also, for two straight drafts, high end WR's were drafted in the 2nd Round. Metcalf, Brown, and Samuel in one draft, and Higgins and Pittman Jr. in the next (there are probably a couple of WR's that I've missed, but those are the ones that hurt the most not getting).

Agree. I like Graham a lot, but if you can get a player who can start at CB and gives you WR looks in packages you got to take him. He makes your secondary formidable and gives you a threat albeit limited at position of need wr.
We can also get WR looks from Marcus Jones. That combo of Hunter/ Jones might be able to help each other out. Snap wise.

Travis Hunter could end up being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday. That being said, why is it that the thought of us drafting him at #4 very unsettling to me? I've had this feeling ever since the off-season started. I wish I knew the answer.

You are unsettled because drafting Hunter seems too good to be true. Like when you get unsettled thinking about dating a Playboy bunny.

Are there still Playboy Bunnies?

God I hope so!

Schefter says the thing he feels most confident in with this draft is the Browns taking a QB at 2.

The pressure to hit on the higher pick is greater obviously but in the end the whole draft is a crapshoot.

Case in point: the Browns feeling the pressure to take a QB. Same with the Giants IMO. I fully expect another JJ Mccarthy like rise up the board late.

I agree. Ward and Sanders will go in the Top 3.

So to bump this thread back up for @patchick

There's 2 "Blue chip" can't miss prospects:

ABDUL CARTER EDGE PENN STATE

TRAVIS HUNTER WR/CB COLORADO

After that there's about 5-10 players that grade out to be solid players but all have some question marks.

LT Will Campbell = short arms and wingspan

DT Mason Graham = undersized at the Combine. Which to me makes sense if he was trying to show his athleticism. I mean it's not like he can't just add the weight back lol

RT Armand Membou = probably the least questions other than can he move to LT?

TE Tyler Warren = he's good but is he top 5 worthy?

RB Jeanty = same as Tyler.

WR Tet McMillan = refusing to run when the biggest ? is your speed? Thats a red flag!

EDGE Shemar Stewart = lack of production. But the tape shows just how strong he is.

EDGE Mike Green = plenty of production but there's some character concerns that haven't really been made public.

LT Josh Simmons = health. Coming off an ACL early last year. Otherwise he'd be a no-brainer pick at 4.

WR Matthew Golden = Unlike Tet he did run and ran himself into the conversation as a mid 1st. Only question is his lack of production prior to last year.

Was discussing a mock with someone online. Said he’d give up a 2&3 to move from 11 to 4. SAN Fran. Would ya do it? I would. He has Warren falling to 11.

Could we trade our 2 and 3 high enough to get Josh Simmons? Or, would it cost both 2’s after that trade down.

We’d have three 3’s. Maybe, WR, RB and C.

Hands over the trade chart

Tyler the man wrecker. But Jeanty is better than good. Walter Payton Part Deux.

Simmons has a torn Patellar tendon. The significance is that Pantellar recovery is a lot less reliable than ACL recovery. With an ACL almost everyone recovers well even if it takes a bit longer in some cases. Torn Pantellars can linger for a career.

Maybe, WR, RB and C.
I would guess that by R3 we want to pick from the strongest position groups because they will have the BPAs in the mid-rounds. Maybe RB, TE, and DT/DE.

I am a BPA guy in the draft. Couldn't care less about "need" in the draft. Only looking for starters and All-Pros.
