Maybe this was said, but Mario Williams is STILL in Buffalo despite reports to the contrary. He was just seen leaving "Buffalo Medical Group," which would mean they gave him a physical, no doubt.

At least the Glazers can't be accused of sitting on their money like they did last year.

Maybe they have to overpay just to get guy to go to Tampa.

I would think this is probably true. It's not exactly the model NFL Franchise on the verge of a Super Bowl.

For the sake of Bills fans I hope he signs there (if he doesn't come here of course). The teasing and torture would be devastating if he doesn't. From a football perspective though I don't want him on that DL, protecting Brady would become a concern.

No link but I just heard that TB just signed Nicks. I'd like to see the details as Nick said he was going to be the highest paid G in NFL history.

Maybe the taco dinner didn't sit well with him.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers have reached an agreement with offensive guard Carl Nicks on a five-year, $47.5 million contract with $31 million guaranteed.

Assuming the numbers are accurate, Nicks has surpassed Logan Mankins as the NFL’s highest paid guard, both in terms of annual pay and guaranteed money. Nicks is getting $9.5 million a year. Mankins got $8.5 million annually with $30 million guaranteed.

He probably will be, but it will be the cap and not the Glazers paying him if they run true to form. They signed VJax to a 5/$55.55M deal but the cap will be paying for most of it since he gets $27M guaranteed and all in the first two years via salary. He will have no dead cap if and when they cut him, and none of the Glazer's revenue stream or personal money in his bank account.

This was how SD kept their team together for several years, re-signing their own studs to early guaranteed and/or high AAV deals with little or no signing bonus and allowing the cap to pay them. It's also how Al paid JaMarcus on his rookie deal. Teams who are cash strapped but cap flush do that just like teams who are cash flush and cap strapped tend to pay more bonus money and then amortize it to the max.

Lion's plan to announce a Megatron "Mega Extension" today. From Pro Football Talk

A little info:

@BenVolinPBP: DE Kendall Langford has a visit set up with #Bengals tomorrow, and might set one up with #Patriots.

No doubt protecting Brady would be a concern. We'd have the best d-line in football, ask me: Dareus, Kyle Williams and Mario Williams looks VERY daunting. There is a possibility Shawne Merriman could be the 4th guy on the line, too...I know, he's done right? Never know. He gets one last shot.

Maybe the taco dinner didn't sit well with him.

That's pretty funny. Also, good memory.

7 years, $132 million total, $60 million guaranteed for Calvin Johnson, per 98.5

The Giants' line is better.

Megatron gets a Megadeal.

The Giants' line is better.

It might take a Patriots fan to think so.

We'll see.

Mario Williams at One Bills Drive as we speak...that's Ralph Wilson Stadium, folks.

Why would it take a Patriots fan to think so?

Again....

Dareus was nothing special last year
Both Williams boys are coming off of injuries
Mario hasn't been a double digit sack guy since 2008
There's not another DE on the team that's really anything to worry about

No, I'm fairly certain most rational fans would agree.

I really like Langford, he was my #2 3-4 DE behind Red Bryant. If his demands are reasonable I think he would be a very good pickup.

Buffalo needs the excitement back, and with the Dolphins going backwards by losing Solilai (more than likely) and trading Marshall, Buffalo is definitely there. However, paying such a ridiculous amount of money for one guy who is not a HOF QB is going to bite you. Making him the highest paid defensive player ever means you're sniffing 20 mil at some point as a cap hit. That's steep.

Confidence levels are underrated though, and Williams will certainly raise confidence.

I'm not certain of that at all.

You would have an All-Pro #1 overall pick, a Pro Bowler, and the #3 overall pick with a year's worth of valuable experience under his belt...looks absolutely fantastic on paper.

People will begin to talk about this soon if the Mario deal happens, and it's looking pretty good at the moment.
