What I find amazing here is the amount of people that want to judge his production over a small sample of games with other teams in order to say 'I was right'. Its just egotistical bull****.

We had some great times when Randy Moss was here. He is without doubt the greatest receiver I've ever seen in a Patriots jersey. And I'm talking about while playing in a Patriots uniform.

I think that Randy has to come to grips that he is no longer a superstar NFL WR. Until he accepts that, he will be a problem, IMVHO.

If he does accept that, really accepts it, and just wants to be a contributing part of a WR corps, then he would be worth taking back. But maybe he never will.

You can't judge his production at two other teams where he has played a total of six games. The QBs are only getting to know him, he is only getting to know the offense. It takes time to get used to a new team. This whole season might be a write off for him and its not going to help him as far as a new contract is concerned. It doesn't mean he is done though by any stretch.

We've been through this 100 times...

Look at his last 12 games in a Patriots uniform (starting after Indy 4th and 2 game and including BAL playoff game).

12 games
39 catches
560 yds
9 TDs

What does that tell you?

Re: Interesting moss tidbit along with notes on our D

No. Moss could have chosen to sit out.. He chose to play and get paid..
I heard, whether it's correct or not, that before claiming Moss they put out feelers to him to make sure he was OK with being claimed by them. Since they had good playoff chances, at the time, he said yes.

Moss' offseason stock has dropped enormously, not just because of his own actions but also because TO has made himself a much better option for a short rental. TO has produced in CIN and has handled the team's failures well, compared to Moss who disappears and causes problems when things don't go his way.

I think Bill would take Moss back if he knew he was getting a committed cooperative player, but there is absolutely no way to guarantee that's what you would be getting even if he says the right things.

Imagine if Rusty gets Randy the ball and Moss finishes strong ... what a story that would be.

Rusty Moss....

Why on earth would you pick 12 games? How about 16 or 17 which sounds reasonable?

Roll that out to 16 games, and we'd get 52 receptions, 750yds, 12 TDs, which, while it isn't 23TDs, is really friggen good.

And much more than we're getting out of Welker.

Its actually 55 receptions, 907 yards and 12 TDs for the last 16 including the playoff game.

Thats 3.4 catches and 57 yds a game. Good numbers no doubt but not for a soon to be 34 year old receiver who thinks he is still among the league's elite and wants big money.

For anyone that is still not sure why Moss was traded, read this: Cris Carter: Randy Moss “full of regret” he’s not a Patriot | ProFootballTalk

for being a HoF player and successful businessman, he just has no common sense.

(Edit: just wanted to add a link to the espnBoston story that PFT based their column on, and the WEEI interview that espnBoston based their column on. WhiZa, thanks for the find - jmt57)

Carter follows up on Branch remarks - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston
