Another guy that can get to the QB and drop into coverage. I like it. Was hoping for Bass but this works.

Yeah, like this one a lot.

Some decent depth at edge rusher. Throw Collins, Bequette, Francis, Buchanan into the mix in camp, and see who emerges.

buchanan is another passrushing prospect. he has the length and build that bb covets at the outside backer/end position. i'm concerned that he needs to regain some bulk though. heard he got his jaw wired shut after getting into a fight or something?

So anyone taking bets on whether or not we gamble on Rogers with our final 7th round pick?

Scouting the 2013 NFL Draft: Illinois vs Northwestern (2011) | NEPatriotsDraft.com - 2013 NFL Draft

#99 DE Michael Buchanan
-Lined up at DE, standing up.
-Playing on kick block units as well.
-Switches to LDE, bulls over RT and flushes QB into sack. Powerful.
-Tries speed rush, can’t quite turn the corner.
-Active hands, keeping himself clean.
-Sets a hard edge, flashes outside, sheds block to make the play.
-Bends around edge and catches RB from behind – impressive athleticism.
-Nice jerk move, can’t get there in time.
-Exhibits plus change of direction skills, mirroring shifty QB – then delivers hit.
-Very active motor, never content to be blocked – using a wide array of counters.
-Keeps outside shoulder clean, strings out play and lays a hit for the TFL.
-Bends around edge, wraps up for another tackle for loss.
-Loses balance on club move, falls to the ground.
-Very strong tackler, wrapping up and delivering the hit each time.
-Shows good speed working down the line against option, makes another good hit.
-Club move sets up the rip, gets pressure on the quarterback.
-Sets edge, sheds block and lays out the RB for another TFL.
-Incredibly impressive quarter, can’t be blocked.
-Steps with OT on down block, finds ball quickly and shows off great COD skills again sacking Persa.
-Another big hit on QB, an absolute menace.
-Disciplined, locates ball and works down the line to make tackle.
-RT stays with him on spin move, keeps working and trips up QB later in the play.

Overview: One of the most impressive games that I’ve seen in a while from a college defensive end. Looked very balanced and versatile and was utterly unblockable for long stretches in the game. Look for Buchanan to be a riser in 2012.

Could they have found their Dennard-esque diamond in the rough? I don't know about you guys but it seems very plausible.

Buchanan is going to need to put some meat on that body before he can have a true great impact on their team though.

..and now is the time to take a guard. There are still several decent developmental ones.

We just got some MAJOR value with the Buchanan pick.

The Patriots have a remarkable knack for spending day-2 picks on guys who seem like huge reaches, then picking highly rated guys in round 7. Very weird.

So let's play the same game we played last year: line up all the names of the players they drafted, in alphabetical order, and consider the picks they had heading in. Are you happy? I am.

Edit: Oops, y'all made my point before me!

Watching that Kiper/McShay sketch reminds me of the commentators trying to fill up the 59-0 game. .

That would be the Dennard pick of 2013.

You mean Okoye? My guess is, he will be a UFDA...

Would love that guy. A diamond in the rough for sure but could fit the 3-4 DE one day to complement Collins and Buchanan.

I, for one, am very excited. We've got some nice pieces on defense, and much better depth.

Trading out of 29 was a great call, IMO.

Collins and Buchanan were a nice bit of scouting by their department.

Buchanan is as lean as a WR though he needs to put on some serious weight or Tackles will eat him for lunch.

wont be a problem.....i had the surgery and it comes back ....especially with our trainers and dieticians..,....time of an OL ..project ..OKoye...!!!

There's a lot of Dunkin Donuts stores in the Boston/Foxboro area. We have the technology.

If they draft Da'Rick Rogers with this next pick here - then YES.
