I try not to bash McD too much because I understand being a captain hindsight, but we call the dumbest plays on 3rd and long. We may as well just be punting on 3rd down. Throw it and at least try for ilegal contact.
I'm okay with conservative 3rd and long playcalls early on in the game, especially while we are not sold on our pass protection. It's a low % conversion so it's okay to play it safe early on as opposed to exposing Brady to sure shots.
Again, not advising this as the usual or even occasional call on 3rd and long but at this juncture I got no issues.
If you remember, Cassel actually was fearless enough to dare throwing to Randy Moss being guarded by Nnamdi Asomugha back when Nnamdi was in "Angel of Death" mode rather than Mr. Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) mode.
