HAHA come on pat i don't think he could have thrown you a better ball... lets shake the rust off... good pressure by the line too

Chung was running back for the TD before he caught it....

Pat Chung didn't want to make Gabbert look bad like that too early on

I don't want to imagine what the reaction would be on this forum had it been Meriweather dropping that pass.

So I have missed the first half hour. Anyone want to fill me in on the good and the bad so far? Just saw that Chung has been having kind of a rough time.

hahahah very very true. Could you imagine the calls for his head?

The good:

Fletcher
Cunningham
Hoyer
Slater
Price
Hernandez (despite two fumbles, one lost)

The bad:

Butler
Medlin

Gabbert got on a bit of a hot streak and defense gave up a bit of ground thanks to the rookie RB Medlin's penalty giving Jags drive a second life. But eventually they stiffened up, got some pressure on the QB, forcing a hold by the OL. and the Jags end up punting harmlessly. Chung let that INT bounce right off his hands though. To the JUGS machine, young man!

Morris looks slow, but thats nothing out of the norm, the Oline blew a huge whole there.

sick penalty making our defense work soooo much more. JERK

Biggest thing: the Pats D has been able to stop JAX on 3rd down, and Fletcher looks like a young Brian Urlacher. :rocker:

...I thought Ridley was supposed to be the pounder, not the shifty guy.

Does anyone else live in Connecticut? I thought this game would be on TV

It is the correct assessment. Butler is not having a great night in any stretch of the imagination. But to blame him for doing his job correctly on that play is not fair. He was clearly playing a zone in that he was to deny the first down rather than the ball since they were in clear punting territory on 4th and anything.
What was the receiver half a yard short of the first down with Butler turning to face him as he caught the ball and went to the turf? It's overly optimistic to say Butler was covering the receiver well, but I do concede he didn't give up the first down.

I'm not going to get stuck into the players as it's been a different set of circumstances putting them in these positions. Week 1 of the season proper is open slather.

All things considered, I've been pleasantly surprised by the Pats thus far.
