Their reasoning is flawed. All that means is that the Falcons should have the emotional advantage on their side because they need to win to keep pace in their division. If they lose and the Saints win they'll be 3½ games back for the division lead. That's a lot of ground to cover, even for a team like Atlanta. So in theory, they should be playing as if their season is on the team or at minimum with that sense of urgency.BTW, anyone see ESPN Sunday Countdown today. Everyone but Ditka picked the Falcons, every one of the ones picking the Falcons' argument was solely - The Falcons need to win this game more. I can see people picking Atlanta, but I don't think "the Falcons need the win more" is a great argument.
I still think the Pats win. My reasoning is because the Pats want the win more.
However, as a sports bettor, I always try to follow the reasoning that if a team needs to win, they usually don't. That system isn't flawless by any stretch of the imagination, but most times there's a reason why those teams are in those situations and it is because they're not very good to be begin with.
4 weeks into the year, and your season could, in theory, be on the line already means you're not playing good football. The Patriots should win this game because they're the better team and are playing better all around football right now than Atlanta. We'll see if any of that matters now.
