This loss is on Brady. The better QB won, and Manning > Brady. Saying that makes me want to puke, but it's true. Brady can only miss so many deep throws before we're forced to acknowledge that his deep ball sucks, and you can't be an elite QB in today's NFL with a garbage deep ball.

I also hope we let Talib walk in FA. As important as it is to have a guy with his skills, he isn't the kind of guy you want to pay. Only shows up in contract years and doesn't play through pain. They should've had to carry him off the field today.

Everything that was screwing us over all year along, happened in this game.

- Refs. vs Jets and Panthers we got screwed. Today, absolutely terrible in the 1st half. Handing the Donkeys a couple 1st downs via bad penalties to extend their drives...Setting us back to 2nd and 20 just after converting. Even in the 2nd half they missed a blatant helmet to helmet hit and facemask on Hooman.

- Injuries. All ****ing year long. Now today, Dennard hurt early. Talib hurt & done for the game for the 2nd year in a row.

- O-Line. Ruining crucial 3rd downs and today, a 4th, by allowing sacks. This happened countless times throughout the year.

- Bad bad playcalling. Every single game this year my brain was about to explode at the ridiculous play calls they've made. Two 3 & outs to start the game? A 30 yard pass to a special teamer on 3rd and 3? Ridley should've been put in for Blount immediately after the first 2 drives. Too late. Then a failed run on a 2 point conversion. Partially the o-line's fault too, but you just have to pass that.

- Defense. Obviously injuries significantly hurt us, but no defense at this level should be allowing such big conversions on 3rd and longs. It was ridiculous.

Last year's AFCCG stung a lot more.

Oddly enough, as much as this kills, at the end of the day, this wouldn't make my top 5 worst playoff losses.

1. 2007 SB
2. 2011 SB
3. 2006 AFCG
4. 2011 AFCG
5. 2010 Jets loss (2010 Pats team was so ****ing good, inexcusable)

You know, this team actually reminds me a lot of the 2011 Celtics.

Greats late in their career (Brady/Belichick) vastly overachieving in a weak conference before meeting up with the undisputed top dog, who just proved to be too much.

You're happy they even made it this far, but there's no way not to be depressed about coming so close and falling short. Especially when you Brady will be 37 next year.

Brady had a really hard time with that Denver air, a lot of those incompletions would have been perfect in NE. I hated the Seahawks yesterday, but I will be rooting for them today and in two weeks! Wilson actually seems like a really nice guy, and I will look forward to Richard Sherman deleting DT.

That air theory would make sense. But it is what it is. If we have only 1/2 the injuries, we might be back in the SB.

I will respectfully disagree. :)

Why? The facts were there for all to see, either his ligaments are thorn, or he can't throw the deep ball.
I agree that we need someone who can go for the jump balls, but when a WR gets opened in championship game, you are supposed to hit them.

I think the biggest call in the game (bigger than the Brady overthrow to Edelman) was the horrible OPI called on Hooman in the beginning of the game. The pats were definitely in FG range and may have gone for it on 4th for the first down.

This loss doesn't hurt all that much for me. Probably because I didn't expect them to get this far. They have a lot of work to do. I'm proud of this group of Pats. They played hard all year. But they bumped into a team that could take advantage of all of their flaws.

I just read Mike Reiss' rapid reaction over at ESPN and he wrote that Brady had the biggest mistakes in this game.

I respect Mike's writing and opinion, but he could not be farther from the truth.

A defense that gives up over 500 yards and allows points on every drive but the first and last cannot win.

Biggest culprits:

Welker - for injuring Talib.
Dennard - for seemingly playing drunk. He was beyond awful
Offensive line (particularly Mankins) - whiffed on the biggest play of the year as per his usual.
Running game - non existent
Brady - missed Edelman in the first quarter that was inexcusable.
BB and his coordinators - I really do appreciate all of the wonderful things he has done for the organization and I do know that no team is competitive forever, but he has routinely got undressed in the biggest games by opposing coaches.

Still an amazing season. I will be rooting for the NFC. It would hurt so bad if Welker got a ring in the season he left the pats. Especially he had some pretty big miscues in the Pats' playoff losses.

Dennard has been playing injured.
McDaniels took the running game out of the game plan for some stupid reason.

BB had 3 SB Titles, 5 SB Appearances, and 8 AFCCG Games in 13 years in New England.. This idea that he has routinely been "undressed in the biggest games by opposing coaches" it total BS by the ignorant.

You have a point with the first paragraph but make no sense with the second. How is a CB that cannot run with the WR supposed to help by being on the field?

What about the Peyton miss to DT that gave the Pats a chance by keeping it a two score game. To be fair, Brady did not throw the best today, but saying Manning way better is kind of an overexaggeration. It would be like saying a person riding a bike is slower than a guy driving a Ferrari. Not a fair comparison.

I think a lot of folks are being way to critical of the patriots in general. Some of this is just bad luck, any team that loses the number of quality players they did would have difficulty.

Brady had his opportunities and didn't use them. It happens, the guy isn't perfect and manning has done the same thing. Folks there are no shutdown corners anymore and there never will be again, the NFL wants scoring, so do the fans, you can't give any QB 5 seconds because the rules play to the receivers. Don't blame chandler either I watched that guy get double and TRIPLE teamed today.

I find it very unfortunate that so many folks think this team can't win or is terrible, they have good players, there is no rookie playing now that is a factor for any team, that's how it works. This team will be better for the experience they had.

This is not doom and gloom, we have a team that has been in it for 12 years, think about how special that is. And they will be in it next year again., maybe we can sign decker or Thurmond :).

Denver had the easiest schedule this year. That's why the stats are so high. Bottom line is we need better weapons for TB and 2 shutdown CB's.

No one in the league has an elite WR and two shutdown corners. I'm all in on going after one shutdown CB though. Get a pass rush specialist and hope Jones gets better. Hell or high water for a good CB with testes.

Re: the offense. I just don't know. It's not realistic to expect them to get an interior line, a good RB, and a WR, which is what they need. I think it's pretty likely they roll the dice with the health of Dobson, Gronk, and Amendola.

I'm very sad, and I am at a loss for words....but it is what it is. :(

Going to go and watch Jack Bauer now.

This loss was not the fault of the offense. The points scored by the Broncos was not the issue, it was the consistent, time consuming drives and lack of turnovers forced by the defense. Youth and injuries were exposed by a Super Bowl team. There is nothing to be ashamed about.

If Wilfork, Kelly, Mayo, Spikes (with his head screwed on straight), and Talib for four quarters, been on the field, this would have been a different game.
The loss was the fault of the coaches, the Offense and the Defense. The only unit that gets a pass is Special Teams.

I don't know what I make of McDaniels. He's an excellent play caller in games that don't involve a ring.

I would like to see every other elite QB throw deep balls to slot WRs or S/T guys.
Dobson could be a good NFL player, but with his injury he has been a non factor last two months

I said undressed in the last 7 years. You support my point. His team's have come out flat in some of the biggest games of the year in the recent past. He was $ in the beginning but pretty bad lately.

I can only go by the W and L record. BB has routinely had the pats in the playoffs and with a great record. The Pats teams have played pretty bad in their last couple of playoff losses. When you are the GM and the coach, you need to take responsibility because you are buying the groceries and cooking.

I am not saying he should be fired, but to call him a genius or the best coach in the league is kind of tough with his team's recent performances in the biggest games. It is not fair to judge him this way, but he has set impossible expectations to live up to.

If one block from Wes Welker can render you unable to play, then maybe you're not physically cut out to play in the NFL. Part of the job is playing through loads of pain. There are other guys who I'm confident would have been shot up and played through it. Talib, unfortunately, isn't that guy, and we have two seasons of him being knocked out of games to back that up. This isn't gronk, where it takes broken bones and torn ligaments to get him off the field.
