The Official NFL Cut Thread

Has to be the weakest wr group going into the season unless something happens in the next 24 hours.

Clearly you don't remember 2006.
Caldwell, Garbriel, Chad Jackson and Troy Brown (who had lost 2 steps). They didn't get Gaffney until early October.

There was a huge todo about the fact that Brady had to show Caldwell and Gabriel how to run the routes properly..

Waived-injured perhaps?

At this point the only question for the roster is did the Patriots keep either James Ferentz or Brian Schwenke? If not then the roster SHOULD end up looking like this when all is said and done. (Assuming no injury news happens).

QB (2) T.Brady, B.Hoyer
RB (6) J.Hill, J.White, R.Burkhead, S.Michel, B.Bolden, J.Develin
WR (5) C.Hogan, P.Dorsett, C.Patterson, M.Slater, R.McCarron
TE (3) R.Gronkowski, D.Allen, J.Hollister
C (1) D.Andrews
G (3) S.Mason, J.Thuney, T.Karras
T (4) T.Brown, M.Cannon, L.Waddle, C.Croston
DE (5) A.Clayborn, T.Flowers, D.Wise, D.Rivers, K.Davis
DT (4) M.Brown, D.Shelton, L.Guy, A.Butler
ILB(3) D.Hightower, J.Bentley, E.Roberts
OLB(3) K.VanNoy, B.King, N.Grigsby
CB (6) S.Gilmore, E.Rowe, J.Jones, D.Dawson, J.Jackson, K.Crossen
SS (3) P.Chung, J.McCourty, N.Ebner
FS (2) D.McCourty, D.Harmon
ST (3) S.Gostkowski, R.Allen, J.Cardona

Not keeping either would bring them down to 8 OL men. Kind of low for the Patriots TBH but not unheard of depending on the PS. Assuming one of them is kept that means likely that one of McCarron or Crossen/Jackson is gone. I don't think they would cut anyone else on this list at this point.

If they were going to cut Jason McCourty they would have done it much earlier as a courtesy.

There is the possibility of last minute add ons from other cuts but i can't possibly predict all of that.

Who are you cutting?

EDIT: GG deserved it this time. Plus Matty was lurking..
What a difference a year makes in this business. Now carrying 6 healthy DEs..

Wait so thinking he might have some pocket presence makes one unserious? Scouting is never that black and white.
If you wanna go this hard for Falk that tells anyone all they need to know I guess.

We'll see how his career turns out.

2013 was stronger on paper going into the season unless you think suspended, 5 years older and recovering from major knee surgery Edelman is as good or better than his 2013 self

They need Dorsett and Patterson to be much better than what they've shown in the NFL thus far for this to be a competent unit.

Are you kidding me? About one half into the season Dola had torn his groin and another quarter later Vereen had his hand broken. Gronk didn't play the first couple of games because of the complications with his arm surgery.

The offense was Edelman (before he was Edelman), Dobson, KT, Mulligan, Hooman, Collie and Josh Boyce.

2013 was so bad it is not even close to 2018.

If you really believe that I'd recommend you check out the following depth charts:

Cowboys
Bills
Jaguars
Cardinals - Fitzgerald is 35 and they have little else
49ers
Seahawks - Baldwin already has a knee injury that's unlikely to get anywhere near 100% this season
Colts - nothing there after Hilton.
Jets - this one is tough, since opinions vary so widely on Kearse, Pryor and Anderson. I'm not a fan of any of them, so I think their WRs suck.
Panthers - Funchess might be good, everyone else they have sucks.
Bears - Robinson is coming back from the same injury as Edelman, with no familiarity in their offense
Packers - borderline, but with Cobb's ankles being basically taped together at this point they've got little after Adams, who's probably 1-2 concussions from retirement himself.

Even if you ignore Gronk and White's roles in the passing game and laser-focus on wide receivers specifically, the Pats' WR depth chart is objectively better than most of those teams, and is at least as good as the others.

I think most of the draft forum are comfortable with my scouting history .And I had him pegged as a backup/potential developmental starter. Hardly qualifies as "going this hard".

Interesting.
Calvin Munson and Kalif Raymond were released by the Giants.

I wouldn't be surprised if they kicked the tires on Raymond with his speed.. |
