The offical Patriots vs Saints preseason game thread

Jeez, Mallett was bad, but not that bad. He had some good plays. Mostly bad, but some good ones.

His biggest problem may be he is a Bledsoe style of QB and I don't know if that style of QB works in the NFL today and, like the real Bledsoe, that style of play does not work in the Pats' offense.

Worst Pats rookie performance...Wilson, who in a possibly career ending move, put on a Saints jersey and played for the opposition on D. When the Pats coaches catch this when reviewing film, the kid is done here. Done!

Liked the defense, liked the running/screen game, liked the special teams kick coverage and our punter is pretty good. Passing Offense has a long, long way to go. Hopefully, it will get better when the health of the O-line gets better.

i was thinking that too. weird to see a #80 but this year they're allowed like 90 players during training camp, so there's only so many numbers they can use.

They've issued the number in years past since Troy has left. This isn't a new thing.

Okay.... anyone still driving the "let's trade Hoyer and see what we can get for him" train?

If so...... Please review tonight's film. Mallet was positively AWEFUL.

Good stuff out of Vareen though. Jones looks like he might be a football player someday

I have to agree, it just feels wrong to have somebody wear 80 out there.

Re: Dane Fletcher suffers torn ACL :OUT FOR SEASON

this blows. :bricks::bricks:

Pretty funny about the low scoring, as much as the networks have been plugging this game.
On our side I got this from the game.

Lofton and Martez Wilson looked good on defense, Hicks batted a pass at the line, Marquis Johnson intercepted; Cadet looked pretty good but I still think he doesn't have it. Tanner and Higgins did fine with what little bit they were in the game. Morgan looked great until he missed an easy pass.

the 3rd string defense gave up a bunch of rushing yards up to Shane Vereen(60-something), Drew was off in his only 2 drives, but he does that. Hes on in the 1st,2nd or 3rd, you never can tell. Ivory couldn't run, and the backup O-Line is not good.

one of my prior years binkies...bummer
Makes Trevor Scott's chances to make the 53 far higher

Re: Dane Fletcher suffers torn ACL :OUT FOR SEASON

Really sucks for him, had a lot of hope for him.

He was a force last preseason but got hurt early in the year and never really had a chance to make an impact.

Re: Dane Fletcher suffers torn ACL :OUT FOR SEASON

That really sucks. He's looked promising. Tough luck.

Re: Dane Fletcher suffers torn ACL :OUT FOR SEASON

By the look he had on his face leaving the field, I knew it was bad. This sucks.

Re: Dane Fletcher suffers torn ACL :OUT FOR SEASON

He's a GD good player. I think LB is one of our deeper positions, but he'll be missed.

Re: Dane Fletcher suffers torn ACL :OUT FOR SEASON

From where I stand that was a nothing game from the Patriots and the Saints. Both were going through the motions and not much else.

What you said was funny to because we were watching BB during the game and everyone said he looked bored, lol.

Smith made Solder his bytch
But Jones did the same to Bushrod.

yeah, totally agree. That was funny as heck to see that many holding calls out of desperation.
