This has got to be the least interesting big story ever. It makes me cringe that this is as saturated in local and national news as it is.

Why do you care so much about what the media says about this issue.

Welker and Bill will move forward, with or without the media nonsense.

And, Welker will get plenty of reps this year.

I don't. At all. Not even a little. I wish they talked about something else because this is about as interesting as watching cspan on a Friday night.

Define a "situation."

When you sit the best slot receive in the NFL over the last 6 years is receiving less snaps then a guy with less then 50 career catches.

Don't tell me its based on blocking skills either because the only blocking or scheme related. Edelman is a depth guy. Good player to have on the roster but he isn't a #2 receiver on any team in the NFL led alone the one with Wes Welker.

So in short its could be a internal beef, undisclosed injury, personal matter, lack or effort/conditioning, mental issue from SB drop, or something else but right now something going on with Wes Welker.

Re: Bob Ryan on Kornheiser

Brady had a great Oline last year and he was 1/15 on long balls

When you're at work how good are you at the things you do 2.4% of the time? That is the percent of throws those 15 makeup of his 2011 attempts.

Well, when you put it that way...it still sucks.

I agree with you that something is going on. I just don't really care what it is. I believe that the guys who give the team the best chance to win will play. How that determination is made doesn't interest me much. But, that's just me.

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

She's just cluing in now? The Pats haven't been automatic for years.

This year is still young however. Maybe re-visit this come January.

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

There are 20 teams in the NFL right now at 1-1

Panic isn't in the works ....yet.

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

They have at least one of these games every year, including every championship year. The only year I can recall us not losing a game to a team we absolutely should beat is 2008 and that's the only year we didn't make the playoffs in 10 years. And unfortunately in 2007 it happened at the absolute worst time :bricks:

But getting back to the original point, this team should be fine. Sunday night will be a good test, I think that game couldn't have come at a better time because a bounce back win vs. Miami or something like that wouldn't mean anything. Time to see what we're made of.

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

I agree. They don't look like themselves.

They look like they may have a decent D this year.

The O will be fine.

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

Are the Pats bad? No.
Are they average? Definitely not?
Are they on the verge of not being an elite team? You betcha.

Could be worse, and it may get worse with two tough road games coming up. It's not so much they haven't played that well on offense, but more about the expectations. We literally thought they might challenge the 593 points scored by the '07 team after seeing the offseason moves. The idea that this team will be the type of dominating, unstoppable offense should be put to rest until further notice.

What I do see is a more balanced team. The defense overall not only looks good, but it looks sustainably good for years, as a lot of key players are young and were drafted by us.

I think they'll get it figured out. When is the last time a #1 seed won the SB anyway?

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

Maybe they just hate their coach.

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

Jackie is a very good writer but she seems to have a very short memory today. A few example of other "never happens" moments.

2011: Pats lose to Buffalo for the first time in eight years, since the 'they hate their coach' game.

2011: Pats lose back-to-back games.

2011: Pats finish 31st in pass (yardage) defense.

2010: 6-1 Pats lose to 2-5 Browns.

2010: Pats lose 2nd straight home playoff game.

2009: Pats lose back to back games.

2009: Pats lose home playoff game.

2008: Pats miss playoffs.

2007: Pats lose a championship game.

In 2004 the 12-2 Pats lost to the 2-11 Dolphins. In 2003 a couple weeks after the season opening loss to Buffalo, the Pats lost to Steve Spurrier and the Washington Redskins. I could go on but why bother ... this "never happens" phenomenon is a myth. Teams lose - it does happen. It happens elsewhere too, like the 13-0 Packers losing to a five-win Chiefs team that was in complete disarray; the Saints losing to the winless Rams as well as the 4-12 Bucs; the defending Super Bowl champion Steelers losing at home to a 3-win Raiders team, etc.

"Never happens" is a great big myth; there is no such thing in sports, and certainly not in the NFL.

My god people need to calm down and wait it out a little. Last year Brady threw 4 ints against the Bills if I remember correctly and we made it to the superbowl.

Here's the thing, though: 2001-2004 was such an anomaly in NFL terms that it set ridiculous expectations for this team.

As I pointed out before, is there any other team in the NFL that has had the mediots questioning if their coach is losing his touch simply because they lost two games in a row?

re: Jackie MacMullan: Patriots don't look like themselves

2011: Had a grotesque loss to Buffalo, followed by lackluster performance in Pittsburgh. Went on to be AFC Champions.
2010: Had a disturbing meltdown in Cleveland. Dominated the rest of the regular season.
2004: 21 game streak ended with beatdown in Pittsburgh. Had a sloppy loss in Miami. Beat the hell out of everyone in between and after.
2003: Slaughtered by Buffalo in the season opener. Lost to Washington in Week 4. Won Super Bowl and its next 21 games.

People need to calm the F down. If Ghost makes his kick, that's a textbook old-school, circa 2001, ugly Pats win. He didn't, now we suck. Funny how that works out.

Talk to me after Sunday night. I have a feeling we're going to bounce back against Baltimore.

They definitely looked out of sorts last game but it was just that...one game. On a side note JM is no Tom Jackson, she has a reputation for being objective and intelligent.
