The Lockout Stinks

Chill.

They're entertainers. It's entertainment. They perform. We watch. Now, they're looking out for what they perceive will further their own best economic interests over a career that averages 3.7 seasons for the typical player.

If we don't like what they're doing, we can choose not to watch them anymore or as intently. It's not life and death. If it is, then something is out of perspective.

If people get angry when games are missed, I'd understand that. They have built contigencies in so that they could start in October and play the full season so there is still 3 months to get an agreement and avoid that.

I can see everyone being tired of hearing about it, reading about it, talking about it but players missing OTAs and the off-season program doesn't affect the fans. I can't see getting overly excited about it.

Did it occur to anyone, or the OP rather, that maybe Brady - as leader of this team and now playing coach role in the offseason - was just doing what Belichick would have them do?? From the incoherence of the original post, I'm doubting the thinking got that far.

At first I thought this might be a candidate to be moved to the Practice Squad. Then I was thinking cutting the baby in half and send some to the Practice Squad and some to the Gentlemens Club.

But there have also been posts with clear, rational, prospectives. Should those posters be banned from this thread?

But I will change the thread title because there is no quote or link that states what reality is to Tom Brady.

uh...actually ...no...it's actually pretty normal for the past few months

it's like, you go to the same bar after work for thirty years and one day you walk in...no beer...why? ...there's a fight between the brewers and the distributors over a goddamned bottlecap so ...NO BEER...think about it...I would say all kinds of irrational reactions would result...

Greed, Greed, Greed - I stand it any more. Secret discussions, court dates, drop dead dates, closed players only workouts, layoffs, cutbacks, rhetoric - it all stinks because it isn't football and it is starting to make the fans worried the greed may actually prevent the regular season from starting on time. We're already worried the lockout has negatively impacted the quality of the game, whenever it begins.

Now Tommy Boy comes town to run a few plays, great. But his only quote is when he smirks and scolds Hoyer for speaking with the press. Nothing like - "I know the fans are suffering and I'm going to do my darnedest to end this greedhead fest." Listen TB, I am backer and fan, but you owe us more than silence. We pay the freight and you put you're name on that lawsuit so that means you think the players are being treated unfairly. When you signed that writ did you spend much time wondering how unfairly the beef you and owners are having was going to treat the fans who love football and may never make a 1/10th of what your take from football will be for just this year!!

How about a court injunction that orders each player and owner to every day wear, until the greedhead fest is over, a bright yellow T-shirt that reads-

I'M SO GREEDY AND FOOLISH - on the front
$9 BILLION AIN'T ENOUGH FOR ME - on the back

Don't laugh, if these ultra richies suddenly had to show up at the country club, the strip club, charity events, on TV interviews, and had their pictures taken over and over wearing this nasty wardrobe I guarantee you the work stoppage would be over - SOON. And isn't that the most pathetic thing -a dispute so shallow just making the ultra-rich feel a bit uncomfortable the greed loses out to cash flow and embarrassment. ugh.

Exactly. The only possible "fan suffering" at this stage in the game is self-imposed, by choosing to pore over every single development in a tedious legal and PR battle. Personally I just hang out at the draft board, where we re-debate the ancient merits of Clay Matthews, Connor Barwin and Larry English like codgers swapping war stories in front of the barber shop. Just another June. Wake me when they sign a contract or miss a game.

I stand by my post. Sure it's ranterific but I am so tired of the lockout. The posturing by both sides remains almost embarrassing. It's as if they'd like us to believe there is nothing to be divvied up but a small suitcase full of cash locked in a dusty vault and the second party into the room will be left holding a handful of worn dollar bills.

The nonchalance here disturbs me, I thought Patsfans.com was where a few rabid year-round fans still survived. The lockout has already denied us reports/intrigue from the rookie camp, OTA's, the passing camp, and very soon the minicamp. Not to mention taking half the fun out of the draft. Some of you say, big deal. I say they owe us these things we've been denied because we pay the freight - not them. Have no doubt that the regular season teeters on the brink and that some of these fools calling the shots are prepping themselves for a showdown when the dates for training camp pass. They're convinced injustice has been thrust upon them!

I know you think it sounds dumb but print the T-shirts and the lockout ends in days. Picture DeMo Smith trudging into court today flashing his blaze yellow, short sleeve screed! How about big daddy Kraft trying to hide his belly in size medium 550/50 Fruit of The Loom! Humiliation can work wonders, believe me. Nothing else seems to be getting through to these guys. Imagine living in a world where even money doesn't talk unless it's the right number followed by NINE zeros! - For playing a game...
