The jets are now all-in to the QB market

It's crazy to me how much fun these guys have and get paid for it.

I couldn't imagine having an ego so big that i would ever think differently or be too good for off season practice.

Him and I are the same age. And sure i cant throw a football as far and as accurate... but im glad that when i throw football with the kids i still have a blast.

His motivations are a lot different.

He's going into his 20th training camp, he is in fact pretty banged up, and he has earned over $360M in his career.

Not even sure why he wants to keep playing.

Sounds like the Jets want a vet. So that is another blow for the idea of us trading down
Even though they still owe so much to Aaron? I'd figured they'd want to go the cheap rookie route.

Maybe a GM who just has this year left to prove and not many options. Milton is like the hail Mary. If it works the GM gets set and 2nd rounder is not a. Big price to pay considering draft is a crapshoot after first 10 picks.
My comment was regarding trading Milton for Jeffery Simmons, not a 2nd rounder

Sure as **** it ain't for passion. Probably fears obscurity and lack of attention. Which is funny given his dark room affinity. He makes no sense at all. The perfect Jete. He'll be missed.

they do have Ty Taylor, right? perhaps a vet bridge to a rookie, similar to Brissett.
if Sanders was there at #4, and the Jets came calling, I would strongly consider #4 for G Wilson and the Jets # 7

Nice.

We were playing our third string QB. You're saying that the Bills not only can play to win better than us, they can even play to lose better than us!
I think Mayo knew he was going to get canned and was sticking it to us. There are ways to lose without being obvious about it (like get milton the "f" out of there as he's lighting it up, or tell him to hand off). Potential positive is Lovie Smith did the same "win the game he should have lost" and knocked the Texans out of #1, so they ended up with CJ Stroud instead of Bryce Young. Maybe we'll get lucky too?

I think so, too. And I think that's why Kraft fired him immediately after the game and didn't wait until Monday.

The Fans were visibly upset that afternoon...Mayo couldn't go soon enough for me... love the timing the Krafts wanted the #1 overall.

There’s not really good rookies and next year is a total rebuild, so it makes sense to punt and have a rookie come into a better situation than waste a year.

If this year and last years draft classes were flipped we probably would do the same. Grab a vet to get us through and draft in a deeper class

Cowherd has a theory:
Giants trade for Stafford - for a 2 year, save your job move for Daboll & Schoen
Rams sign Rogers - for a plug & play run, as they draft a QB of the future to develop

It's crazy that Stafford is still only 37. He could have 3 years left.
But, I can't see him wanting to go to the Giants and rebuild at this point. He'd likely want to stay put and try for a 2nd SB.

Ego!

Yeah, I'm just kind of surprised that if they're essentially giving up on the season anyway, why spend anything more on another vet QB when you have one that you're paying either way. I guess it must have been untenable with Rodgers.

Because theoretically a 1 year vet sign is easier than committing to a rookie draft QB who you atleast "should" try it for about 3 years. It's more expensive short term, but you are basically freeing up your cap for the next year when you are ready to compete. They also still have to pay Rodgers next year, so it's not like you are even feeling the benefits of the rookie contract at that point.

Yeah, it's just such a terrible place for a franchise to be. Good job, Jets!

He's trying to prove he's the best QB ever, and failing. He's blaming others for his failures, so he keeps coming back to prove to everyone how amazing AR is.

Honestly I feel bad. In total retrospect, signing Rodgers was a brilliant move. They looked like they had a team and they were only losing because Wilson sucked bigfoot's ****. Rodgers even if he was 70% of what he was, would stop the bleeding at QB. They probably would have been fighting for the division title that first year if he didn't get injured. That was the all in year. 2024 was just a mess because guys left and guys declined and Rodgers was mid on a good day and **** on a bad day.

But the Jets were legit losing slogfests to crappy Patriots teams because Wilson was that bad.

well that sucks... that sort of dysfunction really embodied what the jete are all about...

and, with rodgers gone, it begs the question, what about Lily?

I actually think the Jets are pretty close to contending for a playoff spot, if they can get reasonable QB play.
they have $60m in cap space once the designate Rodgers and Adams. above average OL. weapons. very good defense. 4 picks in the top 110.
with competent HC and GM work, they could get in

This is what the media said before they got Aaron Rodgers. Zach Wilson still had a better win-loss record.
