The "interesting cuts from around the league" thread

I would give Alex Barron a look because I think OT may be the Pats' thinest position. Then they can Cannon back to guard where he should play.

He wouldn't last long in NE at all with his inopportune penalties, remember that holding penalty when he was a Dallas player that cost them the game?

Moot point, with the OT situation league wide he won't get close to us, and as a former 1st round pick, he will be too "shiny" for the Rats to resist.

He would be a depth player as insurance if Vollmer or Solder went down, not a starter. Anybody you get as a back up is either going to be a veteran with warts or an unproven younger player.

IDK, one good game by Austin Howard against a bad pass rush defense and I think the Jets are convinced that they are all set at RT especially since they won't cut Hunter since his money is guaranteed.

According to Cimini, they're in the process of swapping Hunter for Jason Smith.

The Jets will have to give up more than Hunter to get Smith. Smith can't stay on the field, but he is a far better tackle than Hunter (I am a far better tackle than Hunter) and Hunter has a decent sized salary all guaranteed. Unless Smith isn't coming back from his last year (he missed the last 10 games last year), I don't know why the Rams would trade Smith straight up for Hunter

Here is the list of "interesting cuts" that I found going through the 32 team list.

Davon Drew - TE - Balt
Danny Batten - LB - Buff
Eric Norwood - LB/DE
Thaddeus Gibson - LB/DE - CHI
Sean Jones - S - Det
Caleb Campbell - LB - KC
Roscoe Parrish - WR- S
Alex Barron - T - Sea

It is still the off season. Bring them all, and then some, in for a work out.

I looked up when I saw this one too.

I don't know about you, but I was of the impression that a number of snaps of Friday were more than a little off center. The first FG was a great save by Metzko, and a couple of punts had to be moved for. Someone who has the DVD and wants to speed thru can confirm.

Paxton left for perhaps the biggest LS contract in the league. It could just be that they have a guy that just made him too expensive.

get back our long snapper??..thoughts??

Why not? Give our current one a little challenge from someone who knows the system and the area. maybe light a fire under his butt to start working on his accuracy.

If that doesn't work, then Paxton gets the job.

particularly for guys who likely have some skills to latch on somewhere.

Chances are that the Patriots will make room for at least one guy who was cut, at least in past years that has been the norm, if not for the roster than at least for the practice squad.

1st thought: ex-Rhodes scholar and Steelers cut Myron Rolle (goal: be a neurosurgeon) is likely to latch on in med school.

Medical school seems great but I never understood how someone with a 1350 on his SATs and a 3.75 GPA from F.SU could get a Rhodes...

Norwood was a draft forum favourite when he was coming out.

He took some serious course work at FSU, all while starring on the football team. Like most football factories, the school is large enough to have pockets of academic excellence that real student-athletes can find. He's been a very impressive guy all along.

.... Wrong thread!

I assume Shiancoe is only mildly injured which is why he wasn't PUPed or cut, but anyone think BB should give Chris Cooley a look? He's kind of a knucklehead but he was pretty good at one point and 2 years younger than Shiancoe. Could be decent as a 4th TE which BB seems determined to get his hands on at this point.
