We have picked three players who are ready to play and contribute NOW at ILB, KR and dime back, and now at OLB.

There are no projects so far.

Lovin' it, the draft I've dreamt of for years with good productive defensive talent...I hope BB was doing it because he loved the value and wasn't just trying to fill holes with BPA, but they all look like great fits for the system, smart guys who all had great football minds and leadership qualities, so I'm excited so far!

I have to disagree with mgt on Crable. I think he is a project pick, and that's a good thing.

Maybe it's mentioned elsewhere, but Crable had an absurd, mindboggling 28 Tackles for Loss as a senior.

His motor is exceptional.

His height and length are elite.

His speed is very good.

But to really play OLB he needs another 10 lbs in the caboose to anchor vs the run.

Fortunately, he can be brought along slowly. I think he will become an excellent starting OLB for this team, but it will take him 2 years of apprenticeship. Fortunately, the Pats, unlike other teams, can be patient developing him behind Vrabel and Thomas.

Crable has alot of upside as a project pick, and that's what he is to my eyes. In time he can be an upper echelon starting OLB in the NFL.

Crable's write-up sounds as if he has a LOT of correctable flaws.

I'm guessing they won't ALL be corrected by November, 2008.

I might have agreed that its premature to make any statements about anyone's picks starting... but seeing as you declared this draft a bust because we "wasted" picks by selecting positions where we have strength - namely LB and CB - I'll take your prediction here as a major endorsement.

Can you just stop posting since you add absolutely nothing to the discussion?

I'm a fan of the draft because we addressed LB and CB with the first two picks and then got a couple more LB as well. I've been waiting to see some youth at LB for a while now so I'm pumped.

Mayock appears to think this was more of a draft for the future.
