Good thread, not too many folks are on the ledge, the reality is that this is a new defense with a whole bunch of new players who are assuming different roles.

Time is key, in the last two weeks they have kept the 1st and 4th leading rushers in the NFL to 75 yards or less. Their Red Zone D is good, but the stuff in the middle needs mucho work.

Some of these conversations are more appropo for about Nov. 15th..

Now that is a clear PERSPECTIVE!

This D is still in the amoeba stage and the Safety personnel situation is a study in managerial malpractice, but it is amazing how many people here are putting so much importance on garbage time-gameover dime defense yards allowed statistics.

The only signing I have an issue with, like many others, is the Shaun Ellis one, especially considering the fact that Jason Babin is getting paid $5 million this season.

People are whining not because the defense is bad, but because the defense has been TERRIBLE. It is a good thing that we are winning and there is still lots of time to improve. Can't get any worse, right?

I'd say the defense this year will take even longer to solidify than last year... but still in plenty of time for the playoffs.

The defense gave up 28 points to a kid who pointed where he was going to throw, a kid with no brains or accuracy, in the playoffs, game 17.

So if it will take longer it will have to be game 18 or later right? The playoffs will only be 3 games unless we fall to WC level.

I watched the Ravens Jets game and I don't think the refs would have allowed us to play like how the Ravens did. There were a lot of penalties not called for all the D TDs the Ravens called. I can bet there would have been a flag calling the plays back. On the pick 6, helmet to helmet hit on Sanchez, Ngata helmet to the back of Sanchez for what was ruled a fumble. It should not have been a fumble.
Saying this to say that, these penalties would have been costly can would have changed the game with those 15 yd penalties.

Good thread, not too many folks are on the ledge,...

Agreed. But the problem is they just keep yelling down louder and louder trying to get someone to take notice.

Bill can add immed. needed depth at DL by IRing Wright. Why he's wasting a precious roster spot on someone who will likely never play again is a complete mystery. Hell, Pryor will be more ready to play again than the guy who's one more inoccuous head shot away from being carried off the field on a stretcher.

Wright's giving it one more chance, so I see why Bill didn't IR him yet. I'm still not holding out any hope that he can make it through a full season, or even one game. Keeping my fingers crossed, for us & for him.
