The depressing truth about Roger

Douglas Adams wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. One of the characters in that book, Zaphod Beeblebrox, was the President of the Universe. Beeblebrox is sort of a clueless buffoon. However, of his position as President, Adams writes:

"The President is very much a figurehead - he wields no real power whatsoever. He is apparently chosen by the government, but the qualities he is required to display are not those of leadership but those of finely judged outrage. For this reason the President is always a controversial choice, always an infuriating but fascinating character. His job is not to wield power but to draw attention away from it."

That always makes me think of Goodell.

Unfortunately, the Nyjfl owners got the intent right with the hire, but forgot to take the authority away from the outrageous moron.

The beginning of the end may be with ESPN's financial plight. That may be a snowball that gathers up the NFL on its way down the hill. The next NFL TV contract may be a lot smaller.

Which ultimately will affect total revenues and thus the salary cap per team..............

I still seriously question whether or not the credit for increased profits should automatically be attributed to Goodell. There are plenty of other people and factors involved as well.
