Patriots Player Departure The cuts begin…Carl Davis Jr released

The only problem with this is all players released from yesterday up until Tuesday clear waivers at the same time. Now maybe it gives teams a chance to work something out "just in case" but that's what I read yesterday.
As already noted doesn’t apply to vested vets.

but another factor is letting teams know who is available so they can plan accordingly. First domino to fall sets the direction, before there are more.

It will be interesting if they sign another fatty or not. I think we need a fatty for goal line stands. I agree that the fatty is a thing of the past, but there are special situations where a fatty is helpful.
Run D is a concern I could see one of two moves made to shore that up.

Such as... facing Philly and the Hurts sneak play.

Our secondary is very good and that should be the emphasis and rightly so. And I’m ok with occasional outside runs gaining decent yards but what isn’t acceptable in my book is giving up 4+ yards consistently up the middle. 2021 Carl Davis may have been good enough in 2023 but he’s no longer the same player….neither is Lawrence Guy.

He’s done nothing since he got here and on IR a lot …..Best of Luck Carl!

They could really use a big space eater like Davis.

Roberts 6-5 300
Pharma 6-3 300

Neither of them is huge as run stuffers go.

I'm not up to snuff on veteran PS rules, but this a courtesy that gives him extra time to find a new home, and if not, he can come back to the PS?

Roberts is a big man, but I agree, space eaters are more stocky, less mobile, but great balance and power.

Carl Davis was one of the end of the roster guys who played an important role for the Patriots and for the most part did it well. His play dropped off last year, and didn't improve in preseason. I wish him well.
Agree. No question they need fatties on the line but they need those players to draw double teams to create matchups/open lanes for other rushers.

Davis hasn't been really doing that but I can see him coming back if the run D is **** in November and the team is in the playoffs hunt.

I had Guy cut on my 53, but now it's less likely.

This seems like addios to me.

If they really wanted him on the squad, they would have cut Davis with everyone else on Tuesday to sneak him in.

They thought nothing by doing that to Brandon Bolden and Brian Hoyer in past years.

this mean sam roberts or jeremiah pharms is sticking with the team?
Sam Robert's absolutely! Pharms I haven't seen anything from him other than 3rd team depth player. This is a bit head scratching for me.. Davis has looked solid rushing and stopping the run.. I'd would have thought some of these other non descript players would get the ax before he would.

well his snap count dropped. and his special teams reps skyrocketed... i guess in hindsight, you could see he was on the bubble after last year... guess i missed it

Yeah.. your right. I guess the team saw something more in Roberts.. who I'm really high on.. he gives the D line versatility, and some much needed attitude as well. Gotta have those types of guys if you want to be an aggressive defense.

Roberts flashed a little bit of talent last year, but not enough for me to really take notice... And I paid zero attention to him this preseason... But most here seem satisfied with him as a rotational piece

Yes, he's big , strong, quick guy. He's great at the point of attack. We just need good depth on the defensive line.. in wich we do.. Roberts projects to be an interior rusher. Guy and Godcheaux are the space eaters, barmore, white and wise, roberts.. that is a formidable D line

Maybe this is just me, quite possibly me missing what barmores role in the defense is supposed to be, but it seems like he needs to take it to the next level... If I'm wrong someone please explain what I'm missing
