Who is so important in this year's draft that would cause for Denver to give up a couple of mid-round picks to move up to #15. Will they go for Chad Jackson, another running back, a DE? Or maybe they are hoping that a QB will slide to them at this pick.... I have a sneaking suspicion that Shanahan will steal a good player away from the Pats. I don’t trust that SOB weasel!

The draft is too unpredictable for any team to be targeting one specific player at 15. They're either targeting a specific player in a trade-up scenario or targeting a group of players, hoping one will slide to them. Most likely, they are doing both.

They'll probably either take a wideout (maybe, Smith is like 65) or another runningback to replace Anderson (more likely, IMO). Then again, maybe they will take a DE to finally create a pass rush. They've got some pretty substantial needs... especially if Jake returns to his usual form next season.

I've been wondering this too. I think

a) They have a specific position in mind
b) If that position did not have many 1st-round prospects (e.g. WR) then that makes it less likely, because they can't do a big move just counting on 1 player.
c) Thus, I predict Denver is targeting LB. They know there will be a nice crop at 15 that might not have been there at 28 or whatever. (They also have 22.) They will do some serious damage in Round 1 --- a little worrisome.

I've been wanting to move to this spot badly.. but everyone here tells me there is no chance in hell the Broncos would ever trade with the Pats.

I'm really not sure why they feel that way but that's what they say.

15 seems like a perfect spot to me as it puts us ahead of the Dolphins and the Cowboys - two teams with coaches who are probably inclined to pick a player we'd covet

And I think there's going to be some pretty good value at 15 - enough to make trading up from 21 very worthwhile

I have a feeling they may take an RB but I dont know why, they used a second on Bell, they used a 3rd on Clarett, they just love their RB's. They may be inclined to trade up for Cutler. But They have Wilson, Gold, and Williams at LB, I think they are going to take the hometown kid LenDale White.

I think this is very likely! Besides, they have to make up for the joke they made of the Clarrett pick last year! Good RB's are thin this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go to one as early as possible.

I dont think there was any plan.

I think Denver saw good value in the trade, and knew that there would be a different calibre player available at #15 than where they were.

They only gave up a 3rd rounder, and a 2007 4th rounder. By the book, they give up 640 + 128 + 30 = 798 in draft value, and they get a pick worth 1050.

The Broncos totally cleaned up. Regardless of who they draft, or even if they trade back down, this is just a matter of cashing in on a good deal.

I think Denver's looking to use the pick to trade into the top 10 for TE Vernon Davis.

Good point! Good point! Good point! Good point! Good point! Good point!Good point! Good point! Good point!

Especially in a linebacker year, Dallas, Miami, Cleveland, NYJ, and we should be leapfrogging over each other to get [whichever one or two they know is best]!

What team is more hateable, the Broncos or the Ravens?

I think that the Broncos will use both picks to trade up with the 49ers to get Vernon Davis. Good value for both teams.

LOL I don't like that weasal Shanahan either...... Hate Denver, its just so easy to do and it feels sooooo good...:rocker:

Easily the Broncos - they're the only team NE hasn't owned in the Belichick era, with last year being the prime hate motivator. Plus, Shanahan is hateable on the weasel basis mentioned above. He could just be called Shanahamster, though, to give the rodentian sobriquet that pithy brevity so loved at the sportscaster level.

Also, they've been rivals of the Pats since the old AFL days, when they had the bucktoothed cartoon horse so prescient of Elway his self on their helmets.

Why get your Jockeys in a knot over the 15th pick?

Nothing I have seen, read, or heard, has given any indication that other than the top 3-6 players (other than QB's which we wouldn't draft anyway) there is very little to distinguish the next 30-40 players from one another.

Bush, Ferguson, Hawk, Mario Williams (though i have some doubts about this guy) and Vernon Davis are clearly the cream of the crop - everyone else is a crap shoot. It is impossible to prove objectively that Ernie Simms is better than Greenway or that Huff is better than Jimmy Williams, Maroney better than Williams, or Jackson is better than Holmes, Moss or even Stovall.

Relax and hope some foolish team with a high 20's pick offers the Patriots maybe a 2nd this year and 3rd next year to trade down and swap first rounders, because that would be represent huge value in a draft with lots of good players who may become great, but only a very few who are certain to make a big impact.

Don't forget 'Shanahamster'. No way I could've thought of that myself.
