The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Malcolm wasn't benched. That is fake news to get clicks on myface.
Bunch of garbage mumble grunt grumble the story about Malcolm was taken down.

Can't wait till Bunny pipes up and tells the media Bill isn't answering any more questions.

He'd be having a bad time if he had self-awareness, but IMO he's lost that a long time ago, probably back to the MP/JJ era.

IMO he's now floating in dementia-tinged cloud of self-grandeur where anything negative gets swatted away based on to his core belief in his own infallibility.

It's like a story someone recently told me about the late period of the famous singer/guitarist Glenn Campbell. The guy had full-blown dementia with total loss of self-awareness. He had to be led to his seat on the stage, but once he sat down and the intro music was played he became his old self. He remembered all the notes to play on his guitar, all the lyrics to sing. That was his happy place, nothing could take that away from him.

I'm not saying that's where Bill is, but I would not be surprised if that's where he's heading.

No. Just no.

Did you even watch the Cal game? They looked atrocious. It was probably the ugliest P4 game you’ll see all season. Don’t be fooled just because it was a close game; both teams sucked and played like ****. If they had put up the same quality of play against a better team, it would have been another blowout.

I agree their most recent game was their best showing of the season so far, but I always say it speaks volumes when a team thumps their chest over a game they “kept close” instead of, you know, actually winning.
Yes, just yes.
I did in fact watch the Cal game. Because of your post, I figured I must have missed something so I re-watched the game yesterday and I stand by my previous post. The results (wins) aren't there but UNC is getting better as the year goes on. Cal had trouble with drops in the UNC game, but they have had trouble with drops all season. It cost them the VA Tech game last week. But Cal is not a bad team, and UNC gifted them with a red zone fumble on the first play from scrimmage. After that UNC played them even and as I stated, could have won if not for a punch out fumble going into the end zone to take the lead late in the fourth. The Cal CB made a heads up play and saved the game for them.
I'm not saying Cal is the second coming of 2021-22 Georgia bulldogs but they are a decent team with a great freshman QB. They are currently 5-3 with VA and Louisville coming up. We will see how they do. As I stated in my post, UNC started the season looking great their first drive against TCU and then the wheel, tires, brakes, transmission and everything else you can think of fell off. They were in no way even competitive. They won their next 2 games against 2 cupcakes, 20-3 and 41-6 but in no way did they look efficient and sharp.
UCF blew their doors off. Then they had a bye, so I was hoping maybe, they could straighten things out on the week off. On the first play from scrimmage, Clemson scored on 75 yard trick play that UNC was obviously not ready for and the rest of the game was more of the same. I was thinking BB had definitely lost it. I didn't know what was worse, the offense, defense, ST's, coaching or what.
I had a night free so I stayed up late to watch the Cal game (I'm old) and although it wasn't Alabama vs Ohio State, I was very surprised by how competitive it was. I was expecting another game like UCF-UNC. The line actually made some holes, the QB looked OK, RB's ran hard, etc. In the TCU, UCF and Clemson games, UNC rushed for 50, 63 and 57 yards, Against Cal they ran for 120(as well as passing for 167). All in all, I thought they least showed up. I keep using the word, but they were competitive. It surprised me to be honest. After the first five weeks, UNC didn't look like they would be competitive with 1916 Cumberland,
Since UNC looked okay against Cal, I decided last week, I would see if they would do anything against number 16 Virginia. I know the game has a history so if VA had a chance, I thought they might try to beat up on UNC. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. UNC actually played well. They outgained VA 353-259 with 145 yards on the ground. I'm still not a Gio Lopez fan but he is looking better, the whole offense looks like are starting to gel. Even the OL looked decent. UNC had a chance to win. BB went for 2 for the win and came up a couple inches short (shades of Kevin Faulk)
Bottom line, UNC has improved the last couple weeks. They no longer look like a smoking train wreck out there. Will anyone confuse them with Ohio State? No. But as I stated, they could win the rest of their games. There are no Ohio States or Texas A&M's on the schedule. They also could revert back to their earlier season performance and lose them all. But we've all seen what BB can do once the players all buy in. I believe it was Paul Zimmerman, Dr. Z who said the Pats were the worst team in football going into 2001 and we saw how that turned out. I have nothing invested in UNC and only care about them because of Belichick but I think if they keep showing improvement, UNC would be smart to bring him back.

If UNC falls to a true freshman LAX bro for the Orangemen, he might want to retire.

umm we (Class of '87) are the "orange" now, because apparently Orangemen was an insult to the Umpa Lumpas!

The 'Cuse is in QB hell, the lost their starter, back up sucks, now freshman, watch out for the TE Villari playing QB next. IF BB loses to them, they might fir him on the spot.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows what Bill's happy place is.

UNC is so bad… good grief. Feels like I’m watching the Pats of 23 and 24 at their worst.

How TF is a Belichick team losing to a Syracuse team starting a walk-on freshman at QB who is at the school for lacrosse. SMH

After one quarter, this is a much worse showing by both teams than the Cal-UNC game.
Maybe I am wrong about UNC playing better every week.
Pitiful.

Mack Brown's base camp is better than where they are now. LOL.

As much as I like Bill, this doesn’t have to be the case anymore. Plenty of teams can now turn it around quickly, I’m sure UNC local reporters and fans are pointing to Indiana which was a bottom dweller before Curt Cignetti arrived.

They can also point at our beloved New England Patriots, turned around just one season after Bill was made to walk the plank.

Bill gets the Heels to punt on 4th and 2 at midfield knowing they’re facing a lacrosse player at QB who hadn’t completed a pass all game.

Totally logical.

The ACC sucks, UNC has far higher recruiting potential than the majority of the schools in the conference and they've had top 30-ish classes the last five cycles with a couple top 15 classes in there. Mack Brown had a poor final season but he still averaged 8 wins per season and had them in contention for a conference title here and there. He even won the Coastal one year. He was putting guys in the NFL.

That's the baseline Bill needs to attain to be considered a success. The dude dismantled a relatively well built roster because of sheer arrogance. Any competent coach could have hit the ground running with the framework that was in place.
