If you're UNC I think you have to double down on your investment and try to pay for as much talent as you can get. I just don't know enough about college and portals and all to know if that will be enough to turn it around. I think if they do spend then Bill will get things going better though.

The issue is that it isn't about spending. Everyone ahead of them has money to get top talent. It's about getting players to choose you over everyone else. It's not the NFL where you are guaranteed draft picks and guaranteed that some teams lose players because they don't have enough cap money.

This year the entire CFB world views UNC as a massive joke and there's red flags all over the place and with petty grudges against NFL scouts and the whole circus, there's less of a reason to go there.

It's really hard to see any top recruits walking through the door next year and he's also going to be stuck with the QB he just paid a fortune to while the older guy who is better is going to lose eligibility.

Even for Bill the question was always going to be getting guys to go to UNC. I think the noise doesn't help but Bill still should be able to impress the right kind of talent that his coaching will get them success at UNC and to the next level. He should be able to find something with NFL skill to build around. Drake or Peppers aren't just going to magically appear but if he can find someone like that then he should be able to get it turned around and obviously those are 2 of UNCs best and you can't just assume you can find even one of those but it also shows it's possible so it's on Bill to make it happen.

This is an attempt to use a fall guy presumably to address the recruiting violations accusation, but it goes deeper than that.

This doesn't address the issues in the WRAL report about inaccessibility, lack of communication, team division, lack of focus and lack of decorum.

Bill has to have a "come to Jesus" moment and realize he's the reason the team is floundering and make major changes in his approach at UNC.

If he doesn't, it'll keep floundering.

Kid gets hurt playing for you and you tell him to kick rocks, get healthy on your own, you can't use our billion dollar facilities.
