The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Bill called her his "creative muse" in his book

This is how Bunny got Bill to write a book.

Does Bunny still have her toe?

Does Bunny still have her toe?
If not I can get her a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon. There are ways dude you don't want to know about it believe me...

Are there people actually defending him? I don't think so
Not around Chapel Hill according to my friends who live down that way. Carolina has a history of great coaches in many sports. The calling card of the brand was class and sportsmanship except for a couple of examples, the most egregious was Butch Davis, HC of the Cleveland Browns and DC of the Cowboys under Jimmy Johnson. Davis came to Chapel Hill with big-time success at the University of Miami but was fired for running a program that had all sorts of shady business from his babysitter writing papers for players and his coaching staff directing players to UNC's African American Studies department that gave out no-show A's to keep players eligible.

Belichick's circus and self-promotion is roundly criticized and pressure is mounting to win with a team that is (in most people's opinion) headed for another .500 season due to lack of talent. The defense may be pretty good, but the offense looks like a mess.

The Carolina diaspora is embarrassed by all this and got used to a decade of great college QB play from Mitch Trubisky, Sam Howell and Drake Maye who have all proven to be fairly good NFL quarterbacks. Last year was disaster at QB and this year is a huge question mark with a couple of promising freshmen and a whiff at QB in the portal

Wow I'd have expected they were still more concerned about the basketball team. Bill will calm them down when games actually start.

Not if they lose they won't.

I can see defending the personal relationship. Whatever.

The "professional" relationship? Indefensible

Bunny is a walking cluster****.
They got to clean that up no doubt. That doesn't make him senial or some of the other things being said.

The Carolina community is as concerned with many sports as it is with basketball - the women athletes are winning national championships and getting to the final four in their sports - women's soccer, tennis, lacrosse, and field hockey are all elite. The football team has a history of numerous first round draft picks over the years and is a top 20 school every three or four years.

NCAA basketball is chaotic with the NIL money and portal turning over everybody's roster every year. Everyone in Chapel Hill is rooting for some guardrails to be put in place on the money, no-limits transfers, and recruiting during the season that is killing the Golden Goose of the March Madness.

I really love and respect that you are so loyal. I don't think Tar Heel Bill is the same guy as Mid-Dynasty Bill. Not by a long shot.
The college game has been influencing the pro game for a couple of decades now, and I think Bill didn't keep up. Mobile quarterbacks, pass-happy offenses, and defenses built to counteract that. Bill's reliance on big, plodding linebackers and inability/neglecting to add athletes on offense was his undoing. UNC basically has no quarterback as Bill didn't address the position in the portal and has a staff full of guys who have the same antiquated thinking as him. Sprinkle in the blowup doll with direct football staff access and a book tour, and it really seems like at best, Bill lost his fastball, and at worst, he is mailing it in.

I really think he thinks everyone else is wrong and he's right. I guess you'd file that under lost fastball.

I don't know anything factual about his business. He is still my coach, and I expect him to do well at UNC despite all the back biters.
