'Free' is sorta relative in that context, if she's shopping odds are good it's gonna cost you. OFC not as much as it would cost you if you did in fact stay there and complain about it, cost of that could be... severe.

I don’t think the state taxes are a factor to the players, but let us not peddle falsehoods (or, at the very least, misleadinghoods).

In order to claim MA is not in the top 10, one has to disregard the millionaire’s surtax. For most players, they don’t qualify to pay that - but your high value players getting 9 figure deals clearly do.

That surtax, when it applies, puts MA well in the top 10 of state taxes, and the Patriots in the top quarter of the League.

I have Cowboys, Texans, Raiders, Dolphins, Bucs, Jaguars, Titans and Seahawks (but they tax high earners though). That's still not a lot.

I'd say 25% of the League is a sizeable number. However, as I mentioned before, I do not believe players pay much attention to state tax rates. They want the prestige of the largest contract, not the largest take home pay.

But this is team in a serious, early stage, rebulid. The previous regime left the talent level at an 20+ year low and we have a new and unproven head coach. This team is not built to win now. It simply doesn't have the pieces to do so. Another solid draft at the top of each round and a nice war chest of $$$, can change the teams fortunes quickly. I would argue that that 40 mill is more valuable next year than it is this year.

I don't know what the rules are in terms of rolling over cash from year to year. But I would rather have access to it next year than this year, for a whole host of reasons. Others may disagree?

I think this is a sweeping generalization. Sounds like you believe that not only do you think players are, overall, financially illiterate, but also their agents are incompetent to not lay out as elementary a concept as state taxes to their client.

There's no way that when agents present different offers to players they don't give some info on what the projected take home pay could be. That's such a basic concept. Not saying it drives decisions entirely, but there's no way that info isn't presented to players.

We went through years of the Tom crap when he left, and now Bill is gone, and I thought, woohoo finally we can move past that crap and get on to talking about football seriously. But now we have the Bill Ball washers who rip everythig the new regime does. Jesus cut the crap, it gets so old. Both are gone, I miss the years of both of them working together, but its time for everyone to get their heads out of their asses and start looking at this team.

What is there to be positive about on this team? did you watch the preseason? They struggled against backups. The line couldn't block against back ups. Drake Maye looked pretty good, but he won't see the field for quite some time. They have the hardest schedule in the NFL. The coach is uninspiring and speaks in tongues of management jargon.
