I LOVE football, right? I'm young though, 29, and I have a deep seated loyalty to this team but not quite a clannish type attachment. I have some long distance connections to soccer, where you live and die by a team.
I feel bad sometimes when I read about the other football. Corrupt organizations (FIFA? I guess we almost are joining them there), labor crises in 3rd world countries that soccer is directly responsible for that are truly morally reprehensible, racism, violence between fans, and others im forgetting off the cuff here. Football, baseball...they don't seem to carry the same burden on the conscience.
I don't have much faith in other people, government, for-profit organizations, and ****, my own industry (I work in an ER). I'm not saying I had all the faith of humanity in the NFL, but... does everything get f***ed up every time? Brady and the Pats were/are a great escape for me, and although its just a game, there is a lot of infrastructure around this "game" to the point where it would appear that it could maintain some integrity.
I'll still watch the damn games because really, what else will I do Sundays (if I'm off)? Barring any major white knight actions by anybody that matters, I won't spend a penny on the league or team, and probably won't represent them publicly much more than my gear supports.
I'd still love to shake Brady's hand, and get a beer with him or some of the other guys I always admired. Sorry to drop all that angst on the thread. My mom always helped me with understanding true life priorities, keeping grounded and all. I'll be cool after today.
Oh well.
