The ASJ Fumble

FWIW - Pereira and Blandino agree he fumbled but think not clear enough to overturn based on whether or not he lost control going to the ground out of bounds.

Everyone here would be livid if this was called against us. There was no indisputable evidence that he did not recover it prior to going out of bounds...therefore call should have stood.

there was indisputable evidence that he lost possession.....no evidence that he regained it, and the ball still moved when he went to the ground

this is way, way more obvious than people want to believe

That's not correct. (The part about recovering it but the part about how people here would react)

NFL saw “clear and obvious” evidence of Seferian-Jenkins fumble, failure to recover

So – we have another “Tuck Rule” moment in the NFL

And apparently, as with the Tuck Rule, no matter how much anyone wants to argue whether it should be the rule – we now know the rule was applied correctly.

And like the Tuck Rule – which the NFL Competition Committee reviewed and decided to keep for another 13 years – Jets fans, just like Raider fans – will state that they were “robbed” of a win because the NFL (*gasp*) actually followed the rules all the owners agreed to.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they change this rule at some point – because like the Tuck Rule, which was still kept on the books for another 13 years, any rule that benefits the Patriots is deemed a bad or “unfair” rule by the 31 other teams

The hypocrisy is amazing. 31 teams want the rules on the books to be enforced – except when it’s correctly applied in a way that benefits the Patriots. There’s a word for what the Jets want the NFL to do in this case – they want the officials to “cheat” to help them win.

i think this rule stands......they've reviewed it multiple times

There is nothing wrong with the rule. All rules produce awkward looking results but if you think it's a bad rule how do you change it, remembering it applies to ALL fumbles.

Do you know anything about football?

Yeah I do....mostly everyone around the league agrees it was a very bad call. If this was against the Patriots, I am sure you would go nuts too.

it was clear he fumbled.....the video clearly established that

the ball was still moving when he hit the ground out of bounds.....if the ball is still moving, possession has not yet been established

how hard is that to understand?
