The 2016 NFL Mock Draft Thread

So I did my latest mock a couple of hours before the Bennett and McClellin signings so I'll just do a little adjusting.

2nd. 2 60. Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State

2nd 61. Le'Raven Clark, OT, Texas Tech

3rd. Jonathan Williams, RB, Arkansas

3rd (Comp) Sheldon Day, DT, Notre Dame

6th. Dadi Nicholas, LB, Virginia Tech

6th 200. Tyvis Powell, S, Ohio State

6th 208. Dan Vitale, FB, Northwestern

6th 214. Kevin Hogan, QB, Stanford

6th 221. Chris Moore, WR, Cincinnati

7th 251. Kevin Peterson, CB, Oklahoma State

7th 255. Sterling Bailey, DT, Georgia
I like your mock a lot. Landing Miller, Clark and Williams with their top three picks would have me giddy as a school girl.

I know nothing is absolutely certain, but if Fairley does happen to sign with the Pats, I think that solidifies our DT position. Could see us then doubling up on OT in the first two rounds this year, like OG last year.
Possibly get Jordan Howard (RB) and Le'Raven Clark (OT) in the 2nd round. Then go after Kyle Murphy, Willie Beavers, or Joe Haeg in the third round.

My reasons for drafting a dt aren't a potential short term UFA signing. It's more that I don't know if Branch is here beyond 2016. And, continuing concerns about Easley's health.

Completely agree. DT could be a major need after this year. I also could see them let Vollmer walk next year as well, leaving us with Solder and Waddle. Then Solder possibly gone that next year.

I'm also assuming they will want Solder to restructure that 11 + million dollar cap number next year or they may let him go and eat the 4+ million cap hit.

Pats trade 91 to the Bears for 106,127,206
Pats trade 196,204,206,243 to Titans for 140

2.60 Jordan Jenkins, OLB, Georgia
2.61 Le'Raven Clark, OT, Texas Tech
3.96 Willie Henry, DT, Michigan
4.106 Devon Cajuste, WR/TE, Stanford
4.127 Malcolm Mitchell, WR, Georgia
5.140 Tyler Ervin, RB, San Jose State
6.208 Stephen Weatherly, LB, Vandy
6.214 Jakeem Grant, WR, Texas Tech
6.221 Dan Vitale, FB, Northwestern
7.250 Joe Thuney, OG, North Carolina State

Mostly good....little early for Jenkins for me tho

Just for clarification, I am in no way advocating for Solder to be cut. Just saying that it's possible with an 11+ million cap number. I am a big Solder fan, and would actually like an extension if he has a healthy 2016.

My mock for what i think the Patriots will do. They will do 1 trade up and 1 trade down

60 - Carl Nissib - DE - If he falls here BB picks him. He often looks a year or two ahead and sees Nink as someone he needs to replace and save money on. Some would say this is too high for him but i think it is about right and BB is known to do reaches for guys who have talent and are raw/injured.

61 - Shon Coleman - Another move for next year or the year after. Vollmer will probably be leaving soon and Cannon's contract situation makes getting a true 3rd OT and future starting OT a good move.

91 - TRADE FOR A 4TH AND 5TH

96 - Cyrus Jones - CB - Ryan's contract is coming up and even if that is not an issue BB would love to have a 4th CB he can trust if Roberts does not work out and the ability to let Ryan walk to save money if things go his way with the young guys. Also he plays STs well.

4th - Tyler Higbee - TE - I doubt BB wants to keep Bennett more than one year and if that is the case you still need to find a Gronk back up. Higbee is a TE who has been rising up my board steady. I just can not find a reason not to draft him (besides lacking a 4th round pick). He is a bit smaller than BB would like but still can put on weight and is a willing blocker but still a bit raw there.

4th - TRADE our new 5th and a 6th - WR? I don't know who is picked here but i think BB looks for an outside guy. Obviously he has not had much luck with it but there is value to be found here and he knows the last time you can realistically address it and hope for anything this year is round 4. My guess is he is looking at Keyarris Garrett but wouldn't mind either Malcolm Mitchell (injured but talented) or Charone Peake (can you go wrong picking a Clemson WR?).

I am not going to even attempt to guess what BB will do in the rest of the draft but i think this is likely considering how he tends to like to draft.

Tyler Higbee is not a Bennett replacement, can't block his way out of a paper bag. I also don't think Nassib will be the pick personally but who knows. I like your Coleman and Cyrus Jones selections though.

I think Nassib will fit best in a Wide-9. Just get the qb. We don't do that though.

You think he has the athleticism for that? Maybe I've watched the wrong games, but I came away with the impression that he was fairly mediocre.

He did win the Lombardi Award and Big 10 Defensive Player of Year.

#61 is a full round too early for Haeg. Dude hasn't enough sand in his pants.

NFL Draft’s Potential Patriots: North Dakota State QB Carson Wentz

Almost every one of these "Potential Patriots" articles involve players like: Joey Bosa, Laremy Tunsil, Shaw Lawson, Jalen Ramsey, Vernon Hargreaves, Myles Jack, Ezekiel Elliott, Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Laquon Treadwell, etc.. - a bunch of obvious 1st rounders who the Pats have absolutely no shot at getting - even if they wanted to move up to 28.

Why is this author wasting his time?

That's pretty bizarre. Not a lot of thought going on there.

Some of the posters here are more knowledgeable about how the NFL Draft than
anyone in the Boston media. They(media) don't know, follow or care about college football.
Hard to be an analyst from that angle.

If you had one fewer G and S and one more T and QB I'd like this a lot more.

Are you guys telling me we AREN'T going to draft Ezekiel Elliott? Well, my whole week is ruined now.
