I think BB is a horrible talent evaluator on Offensive side of the ball so he'll probably still stick with Mac Jones. His square peg in a round hole approach.

Or he sticks with Mac because the backups are worse

That's twice now Bill has benched mac in a national game for Zappe and then zappe went out and crapped himself making bill look even worse

Sounds like he wants to blame the refs for his lollipop throw into quadruple coverage

Nah no need to evaluate this stiff. Let’s see Grier.

Stidham, Cam, Mac, Zappe. Missed on all of them.

Cam was very clearly a very cheap stop-gap, so I'd throw that one out. The others were all misses, but I'm not sure who the great QB that wasn't picked in the top 2 each year was that we should have gotten instead.

By definition finding a franchise QB's is hit and miss. Only Mac was a first rounder drafted specifically to be the franchise QB, Stidham and Zappe were late round flyers and Cam was a stop gap veteran. The fact that all the drafted QB's are still in the league indicates that they were ok choices. This does not mean that any one of them are capable of leading a team to the playoffs.

Not sure I’d call Howell great yet but letting him slide by to draft a never-will-be project like Zappe was a massive blunder.

Howell putting up numbers with Washington while Zappe is passively agressively blaming the refs for his hilariously bad int to lose the game. Yeahhh I’d like a do-over on that one. This is why I’m extra salty about Zappe. Lol

I hope our next GM plays more by the book when looking at talent instead of playing the I’m Smarter Than You game.

Drake Maye or Caleb Williams
But I have every thought we beat the Giants but we can’t in order for a chance of one of the two.

Yeah, maybe, but I don't think our team is that much better with him than we are now. I can go either way on firing Bill, but rather than just saying he whiffed on all these chances to get a QB, let's just also admit that it's really hard to hit on a QB.

Back on topic, I don't like Williams but am curious about Maye. I also like the idea of building up the OTs and WRs this year and get a vet and plan to draft a QB next draft.

To me the bigger problem is he's whiffed in the draft on every other position for years which is why our roster is so average/garbage.

And this is going back to at least 2018 draft.

It's one thing to whiff on a QB but have a roster that has a bunch of young talent. It's another to whiff on a QB and have a roster that has very few pieces you see as having a future here.

and we are going to lose the few draft picks bill actually hit on in onwenu, Duggar and uche because Bill refused to lock them up and they will be free agents.

Will be great to get some stability up front instead of tape and bandaids.

The greatest show on turf started with the selection of Orlando Pace in the draft before getting Warner Faulk Bruce and the rest of them. That's where it all starts. I don't think there's an Orlando Pace in this draft but it sounds like there are some good pieces to be had. Someone like a Maye or Williams won't have a chance with the line in front of our QB's yesterday.

Don’t think we’d be 8-2 but we’d probably be like 6-4. An elite qb like Brady could probably manage that.

We're 2-5 in one score games. Games that Mac was complete ****.

In 2016, with Reche Caldwell as his #1 WR, Brady led the Pats offense to #7 in the league and into the AFCCG. His TE was Ben and his RB was Faulk.

Everone of Mac's weapons are better than that 2006 team.

Brady would have this team at the very least 8-2.

Yes, I agree on this. I put WR in largely the same bucket as QB--it's hard to draft and they bust a lot. That said, the Pats should have been drafting them regularly so when they bust, you are still taking more chances rather than just not having any.

But really, my anger is largely focused on letting the tackle positions get that bad. That is inexcusable.

The focus now must be - and for some weeks now should have been - entirely on rebuilding the team, from head coach and GM on down, for next year and years following. We must find out what value present players have or do not have in that time frame, which means they must see the field for purposes of evaluation. Everything one needs to know is not as readily knowable in the practice setting. As a side benefit, this is the best approach as an alternative to the unethical practice of tanking in my mind, in that such players, given a chance to show what they can do, will of course, even if only on the basis of self-interest, play their best. They, unlike frankly some players who have been playing regularly, will certainly "play to win [the game]." More importantly from a pragmatic perspective, we cannot know how best to begin the rebuild without a decent fix on the merits or lack thereof of players on the current roster.

The change in GM and HC should wait 'til year's end, but surely the need for changes in those roles is painfully obvious at this point, even to Bill's most breathlessly devoted advocates.

Having to let Bill go is genuinely sad, and one hopes the team can rebuild or retain a relationship with him so that we can celebrate his accomplishments down the line. Having to let Mac go is frankly at least as painful, given the inexplicable and fireable negligence with which he has been treated and coached, and the bottomfeeder, crap roster he has been given to work with.

Honestly It wouldn’t be that hard to address qb AND OL next year if we pick high enough to land maye. Resign onwenu and then our 2nd pick is almost a first rounder, id imagine there’s plenty of good OL options there - hopefully a tackle. We could even give up a midrounder to get back into the first round. Also lots of cap space. Our wr may still be week but at least the qb would have a decent line in front of him and a strong run game. Its a solid start!

Yeah 8-2 is a pipe dream even with Brady. I mean look at 2019.

Either way not sure us having a winning record if Brady was here is the "flex" some posters think it is. What is the point of a victory lap that we can put together a winning record with a below average-garbage roster talent if we have a generational QB.

Brady isn't walking through that door and we should not build rosters without him as if he is.

And even Brady got frustrated with Bill giving him a garbage offenses in 2019. He put up 15 extra TDs the next year and won a Superbowl.

So bill short changing the offense even had an effect on him

If I were the Krafts, I'd be furious, wouldn't you? We get hung up, understandably of course, on Bill's past (n.b.) successes, and so I am sure do the Krafts, but to see an asset so valuable in so many ways run into the ground by a man who seems to resist, obscure, and reject any responsibility for the fall of the team, and who insists on being insultingly dismissive of any allusion to the facts of his failure, must drive the Krafts up a wall, or - alas - an embarrassingly priapic lighthouse. There is a miasmal fug of nonsense and emotion surrounding this issue. Bill is an employee. Employees, when they don't do their jobs, get fired. It happens every day. It's as common as dirt and as common as common sense.

(I apologize for "miasmal fug." After 35 years of teaching, I am an insufferable, schoolmarmish pedant whose social skills have evolved or devolved bossing children around. So I get the floccinaucinihilipilification. * I wish I could say I'll do better going forward. Maybe I am much like Bill in a way. Hmmm....)

* I put this word, which is the the longest general useage word in English, and which means "considering as being worthless" on a spelling test back in the 70's. The kids were so taken with it, that, even though it was lightly-weighted as an extra credit item, was correctly spelled by nearly every student, even those who got words like "relief" and "rhythm" wrong. I think that gives an insight into how to motivate adolescents: they just love weird ****. I applied this insight over many subsequent years of teaching.

Awful.

Surely there is a street guy out there who can’t possibly be worse than our QB’s
There's a rumor that Kraft is thinking of hiring Johnny Foxboro, but can't decide whether to bring him in a QB or HC.
