Mac's done, it's either Zappe or I think Grier next game. BB's gonna see how the other three look at practice the next two weeks then decide who to start.

I expect Zappe will probably be cut at the end of the season and his game losing int today and his entire 2023 season are some of many examples why that will happen. Otherwise if they want to audition him for the backup role or build his trade value up fine but they won’t learn much about the rest of the offense if he’s playing.

The best option if they want a good look at the offense for 2024 is still Jones but I feel like BB pulled the plug today. Could be wrong.

As for Grier at least he’s a true unknown and unlike Zappe he had a really good preseason finale so maybe there’s something to look at with him. Let him prep to start a game or two while Mac sits and resets.

Id be fine with Grier too , but honestly just not ready to completely close the book on zappe. Chances are you are right, Im not denying that or expecting a lot here. But since the start of the 2022 season the 2 games he started are probably top 3 or 4 in this span in terms of how smooth the offense looked and overall cleanliness of our product. Now it was a different system and it’s been a different story in BOBs from what little we’ve seen but we had no idea last year either until he came in and played fairly well, and the entire operation looked totally different than what it’s been every game but maybe the bills game this year.

And as you mentioned about bb pulling mac… like i said above after the decision to legit pull mac today, not a pulling brady out of the 2014 chiefs game type benching, it would be a bit clownish to go back to him again.

At this point Mac has had enough opportunity to be fairly evaluated as an NFL QB. The jury finds Mac guilty of failing to react to defenses learning his tendencies. Once teams learned to make him throw over the top or to the sidelines, Mac could not adjust. He has not learned to choose his target, set his feet and deliver the pass on a consistent basis. While coaching and talent around him have not been great, there are enough times where the QB was the issue to indicate that Mac is done in NE.

Get someone next April or in FA with more upside and ability than that and let someone else try to fix him. That’s life when you don’t have a QB.

When BB first came to NE, the Pats had a real bad game where nothing went right. So, the very next practice BB got a shovel and a ball from that game and he and the team went out and buried the ball.

They could bury Macs uniform in one of the Gillete endzones.

Bury it at the 3 yard line right around where his last pass ended up.

I think BB is a horrible talent evaluator on Offensive side of the ball so he'll probably still stick with Mac Jones. His square peg in a round hole approach.

Agreed. So the question is, regardless of BB's job situation, does the organization dedicate time/resources to try and fix Mac's flaws or do they roll the dice on someone new. I'm hoping the latter.
