Matthew Golden started 16 games

Isaiah Bond was banged up and only started 12 games

Golden only played 4 more games and almost doubled Bond’s production. After Hunter Golden is the best receiver in this draft.

I'm not going to derail the thread by going back and forth. Lets give it a year and revisit.

Then take Golden, not a guy who doesn’t give one **** about being a good player, let alone great.
Since everyone is doing it to Tet with Harry I'm all set with Mathew "Ty 2.0" Golden.

I'm all seriousness though there's been a lot of hype around Tet all year and Golden seems to be getting his draft hype later in the process.

For whatever reason after the games were played Golden started rising and Tet falling and I'd prefer to go by what was getting discussed during the year more than during hype season for draft.

I know I said for whatever but I do understand this is because Tet has 2 years of peak tape compared to Golden who broke out this year.

Ok. Sounds like you were impressed by the interview of MacMillen saying he doesn’t watch football, and doesn’t even watch film. That’s the kind of kid I want them to bring in, one who is too lazy and disinterested in his profession to give a ****.

I actually didn't see that or read it. Do you have a link so I can hear the context.

It’s kind of shocking really, to be that blunt about not caring before the biggest day of your life.

On the other hand and I agree with you. If he is coasting on his talent and is considered this good, imagine if Vrabs gets him to buy in watch film and show half of the passion Diggs did in his presser,
Now chances of that happening are low and more than likely he gets his contract and he coasts into just being a ok player, drops, wrong routes. For that reason he is not a consideration for me til the 20s but the fact the Patriots had a visit with him seems that they want to know more about him or it could just be due diligence.

Just saw an interview with MacMillen and he says he doesn’t watch football at all. The last time I saw a player say this it was Dominique Easley, and his complete lack of interest in the game was obvious from the beginning. He was a total bust. They should stay as far away from this kid as possible, he’s going to be a waste of a pick. He then says he doesn’t like to watch film either, and that he doesn’t need to because they go over it in the receivers room. Seriously, **** this kid.

That is more than a bit concerning.

I'd like to hear the whole conversation and I'd like to know when it was recorded? Freshman year or last week.

I think this requires following up from our scouts to figure out what is really going. From my stand point without the benefits of following up all the guys not named Carter or Hunter are flawed enough that I don't need more reasons not to want any of them so this makes me seriously consider dropping him off my wish list.

Screw it let's just go Campbell. Or more defense from Jalon Walker or Will Johnson.

Do you really want Drake Maye learning to throw into coverage hoping his guy comes down with it? I don’t, and that’s why my primary focus on receivers this draft is on guys who can get good separation. I want Maye learning to see guys who are opening up, and how to throw guys open, not bucking it up and hoping it cause a turnover. And if they are going to go for a jump ball receiver at least go for one who cares deeply about being great, not one who simply doesn’t care.

This was written before I saw co your response.

Interesting way to look at it and probably somewhat of a valid point. That said without him giving our front office a valid explanation of what he is talking about I don't know about at 4 anymore.

It's from his rookie year, when he was approached by some blogger while eating.

It's a complete non story

This part goes both ways. Obviously you want guys to get separation but the reality is WRs and QBs need to be able to make plays in traffic and guys have to be able to make contested catches and throws in very tight windows. Having this skill already is not a bad thing.

I think the goal this season is going to be on cutting down on interceptions. It’s like learning to walk before you run. Once you get to where you can manage turnovers well then you learn when and where to take your shots. If they want to get this kind of possession receiver in a couple of years then go for it, but right now is not the time to bring one in.

Makes me feel a little better but I'd still need the explanation directly from him and more importantly to know that he has corrected it and studied film religiously. Obviously this explanation isn't due publicly but our staff better feel comfortable about it when they meet with him.

It’s a complete non story to you, I think it reflects him completely. I think Steve Smith St. is right on the money about him. He’s simply not a tough competitor.

I still think you're looking at it wrong you can't coddle Maye into a good QB. If you think contested plays led to pics last year than drafting someone with that skill helps.

I don’t see it as “ coddling” him at all, I see it as teaching to make good decisions, and the “ just chuck it up there and hope for the best” lesson is a terrible one to teach him.
