So apparently I've lived in a bubble my whole life because I've never heard of this Terrible Towel curse that supposedly exists when an opposing team's players or fans harms the Steeler fans trademark terrible towel. The curse supposedly goes like this, you harm the towel, your team loses. Oooook. Steeler fans have been saying that the Chiefs and Dolphins both had fans dis-respecting it, so they lost. It wouldn't have anything to do with not executing or making plays on the field? I'm not superstitious at all, I don't believe in that nonsense. Players win games by going out and getting the job done. The Chicago Cubs were supposedly cursed for 100+ years before finally winning. It took them that long to end the drought because they ended up crapping the bed. There are so many other sports curses that existed (the curse of the Bambino as I'm sure you all know too well), I just have zero belief in it.

Just thought I'd post this terrible towel curse for a laugh, have you guys heard of this? Do you have any belief in it, or any other sports curse for that matter?

Let's go Pats!

It's a fairly well known sports superstition that has received a ton of media attention, yes.

I also live under a rock.

1st I'm hearing of this.

Egg on my face then for not knowing about it if it's public knowledge. Whoops

I forgot to add that since some Pats fans have defiled it this week, they think they're going to win

There's a chance we don't win but it won't be because of this nonsense

Yea.. um didn't deion branch stomp on the towel with a few others after the 04 afc championship game?

Hasn't affected the pats in any shape or form

So I am supposed to believe that not once in all of the games that the Steelers have lost since 1975 did any fan or player of the opposing team do anything 'bad' to a Terrible Towel', or defile or disrespect it in any manner?

Yeah, right.

Post game Belichick interview tomorrow:

"Well we did our best to get the players ready to play, they fought hard, came up short, there were terrible towels were defiled by our fans that did us in, it is what it is..."

I'm sure there are pats fans burning them in the parking lot before each game and they've been beat every time.

Don't forget posters looking past the Steelers and into the Super Bowl.

OK, I shan't do anything to jinx our beloved Patriots by abusing the absurd yellow snot-rags, but surely there can't be a curse on disrespecting "Steely McBeam" (I kid you not!)

I'm sorry man. I didn't mean for it to come off as being a **** or anything. It's something that the Steeler fans are often citing, so I'm likely hearing more of it living in Western PA.

I've actually seen some examples on my social media sites this week, but I didn't want to bring it up if no one else had noticed.

No worries man it's all good. Oooh tough living out there, I feel your pain, my fiance is born and raised just outside of Pittsburgh and she's a Steelers fan. She's pretty civil and respectful though, her Dad though is the "stereotypical" Steelers fan who throws shade at me pretty regularly. I just laugh it off lol

Clueless. Never heard of this.
I "disrespected" a terrible towel waving group during the 2001 playoff post-season when we played the Squealers at Sullivan Stadium.
Pats won.
And went on to win the SB.

Yep, I've heard it plenty over here in eastern PA too. It is, of course, garbage.

So, you're telling me the same mouth breathers that believe in vast conspiracies by the Pats to rob them of their Super Bowls, and who flunked basic 8th grade science, also believe in voodoo witchcraft?

Say it ain't so!

We are all set, the curse can only be broken by toothless hordes uttering "cheaters" incessantly. I am pretty sure we are in the clear.
