I think it's a depth move. They can sit some of the kids the first few weeks and see how Mitchell shakes out.

By week 4 these things generally work themselves out with injuries, and the roster becomes depleted.

I wonder if somewhere out there a slightly depressed and downtrodden Terrence Mitchell is feeling a little consoled and a twinge of pride that of all the players cut by the team today, he got his own thread.
