The irony is bleeding right through that story.

(Get it?)

That woman's scream must have been bloodcurdling. That was a bloody fine effort by our Ted. I'd like to think that any red-blooded American boy would act the same way in a crisis. If she were family, he would've proven that blood is thicker than water.

"Oh man that SUCKS.... same thing happened to me in '02..."

Okay, props to Ted.

Glad Ted's getting his life together. Great what he did, obviously, but I bet he could use a little hero turn, he was a mess just recently.

Thanks for posting this. Godspeed Ted Johnson. I sort of wonder if Ted's tackling style somehow led to his concussion syndrome. The guy's brain apparently took a beating. It was funny that he has a framed photo of the Dolphins helmet he split in two. That must've been one hellacious collision!

100 concussions?!?!

Dead athletes' brains show damage from concussions

(CNN) -- For years after his NFL career ended, Ted Johnson could barely muster the energy to leave his house.

"I'd [leave to] go see my kids for maybe 15 minutes," said Johnson. "Then I would go back home and close the curtains, turn the lights off and I'd stay in bed. That was my routine for two years.

"Those were bad days."

These days, the former linebacker is less likely to recount the hundreds of tackles, scores of quarterback sacks or the three Super Bowl rings he earned as a linebacker for the New England Patriots. He is more likely to talk about suffering more than 100 concussions.

100 concussions?!?!

I'm sure a lot of them were in the "minor" category. I had a couple playing football in high school. You're dizzy and forget where you are for a few moments, then you go back to playing and have a throbbing headache afterward.

Yeah, most minor concussions people don't even realize technically qualify as concussions.

I also remember that game with the broken helmet. It was freaking cold (plastic gets brittle) and he went head to head with MacIntosh I believe.
