doesn't matter who you get in the play offs. If you can mange 1 home game then sweet.

but we need to heal up fast. the quality of players we sent to IR though.

Damn.

He cannot be worse than Cole. Or Arrington on the outside

I think Dowling is out there doing nothing and he knows the system.

It would be funny if I wasn't joki...am I?

Dowling is on the Jets practice squad, I believe. And he'd get injured putting his pads on on game day.

We would so much rather play Cinci than KC?
We would rather play no one in round 1 then 3rd, 4th or 5th seed at home in round 2 than 5th or 6th in round 1, then 1 or 2 in round 2 on the road. Thats a nobrainer.

Extrapolating a little too far - but what the heck... it's the internet.

I'd rather not win the #2 seed (I'd bet we're pretty much assured of not getting #1 unless some freak situation unfolds in Denver) and have Talib for the playoffs than be the #2 seed and not have Talib ready to play.

Same goes for Gronk.

Same logic applies here for me for both the #3 and #4 seeds, honestly.
If we beat Denver Sunday night, we are 1 game behind them. We have no one left on our schedule likely to beat us in a Nov/Dec game.
Denver loses 1 more and we get the tiebreaker. Thats not a freak situation, it could happen in KC, or elsewhere.
I don't think its crazy to see the Chiefs drop at least 2 more either.
The 1 seed is very much in play with a win Sunday.

How about the fact that we currently have ALL of our losses on the road, and have only won 2/5 road games?

Or the fact that we pretty much need the bye week in a very banged up year?

If you want to take it one step further, having to play only one home game to get to the AFCCG sounds pretty much like a "need" instead of going on the road to take on 3 of the AFC's top teams when we haven't been able to beat any elite team outside of N.Orleans. Forget about any matchups. (in my opinion)

There's no doubt in my mind that we need the #2 seed this year more than ever to make a run at anything. It's quite possible that you feel differently.

Sure, I agree. The only problem is that it's going to take practically a perfect game on offense to hang about 50 on them. Even then, that may not be enough.

Being down 3/4 of your secondary and having to rely on 2 rookies, Marquice Cole, and Arrington on the outside vs Manning and the best passing attack in the league doesn't sound like too good of a proposition to me.

I won't even go into the lack of pressure problems, or the fact that Manning gets the ball out in super sonic speed. The reality is that we're much more likely to be looking at a 7-4 team coming off of a 2 game losing streak on Sunday night, with the #1 seed long gone in the rearview mirror.

If you had watched Asomugha at any time in the last two seasons then you would realize that is not remotely close to being true. My comment has nothing whatsoever to do with Cole or Arrington either; Asomugha was sub-par in 2011, and possibly the worst defender in the NFL since 2012.

He is a familiar name, and nothing more. Bring him in and after two series people will be begging for Cole to take his place -and I'm saying that as a person who throws up a little bit in my mouth any time I see Cole take the field for anything other than special teams. Asomugha really and truly is that bad at this point.

This is the downside with Talib. He's among the very best in the league when healthy, but the chronic hip injury means that he seems to be virtually incapable of staying healthy. I feel for the guy, since the main point in taking that one-year contract was to prove that he could stay healthy for an entire season. This is the exact opposite of what he was hoping to come out and do.

At this point, I think it would be unwise for the Patriots to invest more than ~$5M per year in him, and even that might be going too high. Chronic hip injuries are not something to be taken lightly.

Also, if Talib and Dennard are both out, the Pats have pretty much no shot at beating Denver. Puncher's chance at best.

Any chance that he could see surgery at the end of the season, or would that have a good possibility of making it worse?

It just seems a little weird that any prospective team wouldn't want to see a 4 yr nagging injury that has cost tons of time addressed in some form, although I have no idea as to what level it can be addressed--if at all.

Talib lost millions tonight...millions.

I have to respectfully disagree, I think you’re either catastrophizing last night or you had unrealistic expectations of what Talib was going to be worth on the open market. Talib has been in the league since the start of the 2008 season which up prior which made last night the 90th possible game of his NFL career, Talib has played in 72 of those games, I hardly think anything was lost in 1 game last night.

Everyone knows Talib is a talent in his first 3 NFL season he had 15 interceptions and 35 pass defends despite missing 7 games of 48 games in that period. The same question about Talib that were there in the offseason this year in which he only received a 1 year $5.5 million contract will still exist this year and the years after, Talib is pretty much what he is at this time a very talented and corner who can play at a DPOY level in the right system with the right coach on keeping him on the straight and narrow, he could also be the next Albert Haynesworth who loses interest and becomes worthless to a team.

Lets forfeit.
Manning has put up 40 once in 5 games and that was with 4 Ints by RG III and VII. Why would 50 not be enough?
Why would we have to be perfect to shred them like Romo and Luck did?

I suppose we'll find out soon enough. Not sure why you'd single me out for thinking that we'll need to score tons of points, when the whole entire board feels that way? Obviously my thoughts of "needing to score 50 points" weren't meant to be taken seriously, so you don't need to attempt to throw stats out at me that Manning hasn't been scoring more than 40 lately.

No one is coming close to suggesting to "forfeit." I'm glad that you can be so reasonable in your response.

I think people forget that our defense is struggling because of injuries. While Denver defense is struggling because they suck.
