Gordon has always been known as a head case and right now he is playing out of his mind. Back to back 200 receiving yards games, 100+ receiving yards in 6 of his 10 games this year giving him at total of 1249 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns on the season despite missing 2 games due to suspension.

To put Gordon's performance in perspective in his last 3 games Gordon has 624 receiving yard and 4 touchdowns our leading receiver this year has 711 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns on the season.

Josh Gordon's consecutive 200-yard games set record - NFL.com

Can Talib shut him down 1on1, will we need to give him help over the top, will we be able to contain him at all? :boxing:

I like Gordon's chances in a one on one matchup. Talib isn't the same guy we saw before he got injured.

He's the Browns best offensive weapon. The Belichick defensive gameplan will be based on taking that away. Gordon will see lots of Talib probably with help over the top in likelihood.

One-on-one in their current state, Talib at less than 100% (or whatever he was playing at earlier in the year) doesn't stand a chance.

Jam him at the LOS every play and have McCourty over the top.

bill will triple team gordon and force the browns to do something else.

Did we even try to take away Andre Johnson against Houston? He was getting wide open very early

Don't overlook Jordan Cameron in this equation. I think you have to let Talib try to handle Gordon 1-on-1 so you have the extra safety available to cover Cameron. Otherwise you're asking a linebacker to do it, and as we know that's the biggest weakness in this LB corp.

Talib on Gordon
Dennard (if healthy) on Little
Arrington on Bess
Collins/Hightower and Gregory/Harmon bracket on Cameron
McCourty single high, shading to Gordon's side

Take your licks in the running game. If Dennard can't go, I'll need to rethink.

I think I'm giving the one-on-one advantage to Gordon here. But BB will probably come up with a way to limit what he does so the Browns will have to win the game some other way.

Side note, but related, I can't believe I was able to pick Gordon up in one of my FF leagues as a FA in week 3. I'm sure he'll be a top WR next year for all.

Ryan Leaf throwing to Randy Moss - THE BROWNS BOARD - THE BROWNS BOARD

Their Browns fan said it best; their offense is Ryan Leaf to Randy Moss.

Whether his stats are skewed or not, Gordon is having the second best WR season all time for a 22 year old, next to Moss. His numbers are insane considering his age and that he was suspended for 2 games.

Weeden blows and will try his best to look half decent by throwing every other pass to Gordon. While Talib may want him 1 on 1, just double/triple team this kid and take him out of the game.

This would matter if Weeden wasn't a bottom 3 QB in the league. Gordon is saving Weeden from having Jamarcus Russell type numbers. Just blitz this clown and cover the hell out of Josh IMO.

Does it really matter?

Gordon has had these two monster games and the Browns have lost both of them.

The thing about that is he's Andre Johnson, so you'd expect him to have some success no matter what coverage he's seeing. I expect the same deal with Gordon. Julio Jones was injured so shutting him down wasn't as impressive as it sounds.

The Patriots are having major trouble with the run. If they don't stop Gordon or the run, it will be a close game. Turnovers, as always, will be big.

Aren't Weeden and Campbell both likely to be out w concussions?? If he's getting passes from a rookie making his debut, he is less likely to have another 200 yd game...

This is what I was thinking. While we shouldn't overlook the Browns (almost did that with the Texans!!), I don't think it's Talib's biggest challenge yet. He's already had those in containing Denver's (and NO's? Can't remember if he was back for that game - my bad) high powered WRs, a job he did very well while injured. The Browns can't win despite this guy tearing it up.

Talib covered Graham during the NO game until he was injured. Graham had no catches.

I have a hard time getting behind these kind of hyperbolic gameplans. "They only have one good player, so do whatever it takes to take that guy out, even if that means triple teaming him." You need to pay extra attention to Gordon, no doubt, but the fastest way to turn a mediocre receiver into an all-pro is to ignore him.

So Brady and the offense has no say in the matter?

Also the 5th worst running team in the league doesn't really scare me.

Biggest question right now is who's going to THROW the balls to Gordon. . . .

That's right - how could I forget that?! A masterful job on a TE that was tearing up the league!
