I indicated that in my post, that I think the northeast is more dedicated to that kind of stuff. It feels more engrained into the culture, just compared to how I see players and programs represented in media as a whole. Your primary account is certainly more knowledgeable than I, though.

And to your point, I'd do the exact same: grill the guy on it. And find a way to do so that doesn't just leave it up to them saying "yes I'll be serious about it" and you taking it as truth. I think with Gronk it was a similar situation, he didn't exactly have a good team visit nor did he display a knack for translating X's/O's. He just is a guy that you can say "do this, don't do this" exactly one time and he'll remember it for life.

When BB & co. walked into the room for the pre-draft meeting, they found Gronk sleeping on the floor.

Cool, hope he falls into the second round

Are you the top in the world at your field? Nobody gets to the top without loving and obsessing over what they do. Football requires a crazy work ethic that is not possible with his attitude.

Also, football is a physical sport and when the body is crying, love of the game is what keeps player going when it's easier not to.

I would never want to draft or sign a player with such an attitude. I could not care less about the talent.

Not to brag, but yeah, I kinda am.

Vrabel specifically mentioned wanting players who study yep Tet is off the board.

I know we have met with him though.

Paging @PatsFan2 to this thread. Paging @PatsFan2...

The NFL is a job in the entertainment industry at the end of the day, not some sort of religious organization that requires buy-in and belief with all your heart and soul and mind and strength. Does he have the skills required to be a productive football player, regardless of whether or not he loves it? Yes.
The NFL is a job where if you don’t work your ass off, you’re not going to succeed. When you’re in college, you can excel on pure talent alone. Not in the NFL.

I don’t care if he loves it or hates it; if he doesn’t work at it - and yes that includes learning the strategy - then he’s N’Keal Harry II.

If 10 men expect him to adjust his route based on the defensive formation but he doesn’t see it, then he’s worthless.

You don’t have to love something to excel at it. I cannot count the # of times I hated a job yet was great at it. He could have an excellent work ethic. I would be interested in seeing how his grades were over the years. If he wasn’t coddled/had his classes/tests taken by others (and other ways to cheat the school system) and did well, it may tell us that he’s got a great work ethic. Well this is just what I think…no clinical trials/research done or will be, by me at least. . Making the most out of a situation that’s out of your hands, like being drafted by the browns when wanting to go to the giants for example (why god why?) is so much better for everyone….
But…if you have 20 guys to choose from and one says he does not see the value in film study and 19 say they cal learn from it, everything else veing equal….its a significant downside
