Stopping the run - scheme or talent

The discussion has changed a bit since right after the Super Bowl, when it was clear to most of us that we needed to re-sign Wilfork or add a run-stuffing DT.

Now, Wilfork's NET contributions were approximately ZERO. We can just plug in the players that we have and do fine with the defense that we had for the last half of the year. In essence, we plan to replace Wilfork's reps with more for others, including lots more Easley.

THERE IS A SERIOUS DIFFERENCE OF OPINION
Some see DL as one of our very top draft needs. Others see DL as a 4th round need.

Why would you draft a DT in the first round if you scoff at the one we drafted in the first round last year seeing the field at all this year?

Despite your hyperbole, no one is saying Wilfork contributed nothing, but since Siliga and Branch are capable of playing a lot more snaps than they did last year, and our #1 pick will be in year 2, unless you think those 3 players suck they can fill the DT position along with a sub for running downs and Chris Jones as the sub for passing downs.
