Of course, he didn't get to hit the retirement trail like Kobe.

He's been great even at an older age but, toren achilles? He's probably toast.

Steve Smith can still play, so good for him

Greatest short receiver of all time (<6 feet)?

I'm not sure if he's got it in him, but he only needs about 700 yds to move into 7th all-time (currently 11th). If he can play 2-3 years and put up 2,000 he'll retire #2 all-time.

The achilles is a big wild card, but he was on track for one of his best seasons ever before he got hurt. 100rec/1500yds. If he comes back in that form I'd imagine he'd keep going beyond next year.

Good for him but, with a torn Achilles at his age, the Ravens should still be making other plans at the WR position in the offseason.

he must like being a ratbird

Man, he would have been outstanding here. Oh well.

Don't forget his broken back...dude has no chill

It's good that he wants to come back, he deserves to go out on his own terms and it makes sense that he would want to. Whether he's able to come back is a whole other issue.

he's a little psychotic moron. He had the choice of coming here or the Ratbird nest where indiscriminant steroid/HGH use is ENCOURAGED. Little wonder he chose the place where the collective team IQ approaches zero.

Would have been a beast and fan favorite if he signed with us. Too bad Ozzie never let him leave Bmore without a contract.

He wouldn't have fit the Pats' team-first/keep your yap shut culture. I'm willing to bet that was a big factor in his decision not to entertain an offer from New England.

Yeah, the Panthers felt it necessary to get rid of him in order to change their team culture, and look what it did for them. And that's despite having a dumpster fire at WR behind him.

Pretty sure collective IQ went way up once Ray Lewis retired.

I can understand that he doesn't want his last season to be missed by injury. But I don't enjoy seeing old players beeing shells of themself in their last seasons, and coming off his injury that's most likely what he will be.

There's no guarantee he'll be able to come back from a torn Achilles. If he isn't up to par he won't make the team.
