Steelers at Ravens

Is it my imagination, or have the Ravens, for a team at 9-3, looked like an astoundingly, painfully average team pretty much all season long?

Things don't get any easier either. Remaining schedule: @WAS, DEN, NYG, @CIN.

Their defense has actually been very poor throughout. They could have easily lost the last two games prior to today.

It's strange. I actually think they are a very good team--or at least, have the potential to be--but after 12 weeks, I guess you sort of are what you look like on tape.

There's still time for them to sort things out, but at this point I agree, they're a really shaky looking 9-3.

I believe so, but the last three weeks have sealed it for me. Their offense is not very good at all. Today they lost to Charlie Batch at home. Last week they were fortunate to escape a terrible Chargers team. The week before that they got their only touchdown on a kick return.

Normally I say record record record, but I can honestly say Bmore is not as good as their record. They are still a good team, but they're extremely fortunate to be 9-3, especially after losing Webb and their secondary is as vulnerable is it is. Their run defense was already suspect. Were practically gifted the game against us by the replacements that definitely should've been a loss. And with all the close games they've played, normally if you play 9 games that go down to the wire you expect to win 5, maybe 6 of those. They've won 7. So I'd say they're a 7-5 caliber team, 8-4 at best.

I am biased of course (check the sigline) but not sure why anyone is happy about the steelers win. Baltimore is going to get in regardless, you want Pittsburgh dead and buried. Bye schmye, we get the bye all the time and haven't closed the deal since '04 while luckbox teams like Pitt and NYG win SBs lately after winning three straight road playoff games.

Pittsburgh is dangerous.

I would cringe every time I heard some Radio Clown ~ those Parasites who're actually being paid to inform us ~ say that we ~ previously ~ were "basically 2 Games behind the Ravens."

Are they now going to say that we're "basically ONE Game behind the Ravens."??

We're the #2 Seed NOW, Gentlemen.

2012 NFL Football Standings - CBSSports.com

With a 3 Way Conference Tie, barring a complete sweep of both teams, the TieBreaking Format advances to Conference Record, so we'd win.

So, in case anyone's under the wrong impression, as a result of being exposed to those idiots on the AirWaves:

We are already ahead of the Ravens.

Of course that's all moot, as the Ravens and Broncos themselves have a Game in two weeks.

Pittsburgh's defense is definitely dangerous. I'm not too worried about that offense though as long as Big Ben is out. Once he's back though, you can bet I don't want to play them. Besides us, they're the most experienced team in terms of playoff games. We're going to learn a lot about our team next week against Houston. I think all know the Ravens and Broncos are beatable.

There's two teams I would love to miss the playoffs that seem possible:

1. Steelers
2. Giants

It's not your imagination. The Ravens are overrated, banged up, group of clowns who are VERY LUCKY to be sitting at 9-3. Should have been AT LEAST 9-4 if not for that moronic 4th and 29 conversion last week in SD.

I expect them to drop AT LEAST two more games, and end up in the Wild Card at best.

We've had a bye 3 times since 2004 and gone to the Superbowl on 2 of those 3 occasions. It's kind of a big deal, regardless of blowing the Superbowl in the waning seconds of the game both times.

Best case scenario for us right now, and it's got a decent chance of happening if we can win out is Denver gets the 3 seed to play a Indy team with something to prove and Baltimore and Pittsburgh to meet round 1 to kick the crap out of each other while we sit home and wait.

Pittsburgh would have been well alive even if they lost that game. It was important but the game that really matters in Pitt making the playoffs is the one with Cincinatti. If they win that one, they sweep Cincy and get in over them if they finish with the same record or better. The other teams the Steelers play (Dallas, Cleveland, SD) are all very beatable, not cakewalks but very winnable games for them if they really are playoff caliber. And Cincinatti still has to play Baltimore so there's a very good chance the Steelers would have kept pace with them and stayed a game back even if they lost yesterday. Now they're tied instead, but it still remains the winner of that Cincy-Pitt game likely gets the WC.

A Bmore loss is much more beneficial. Another thing about your approach is, even if the Steelers do make it in as a lower seed, if we get the 2 seed the earliest we'd play them is round 2, and with them being a lower seed the odds of that even aren't very likely. Regardless of what happens, we're going to be playing a pretty good team round 2. The most important thing here IMO is avoiding having to go TO Bmore and we need to have that tough game be on our turf, at the same time having that bye to rest up.

Let's see:

- Week 2: lost to Philly, despite Philly turning the ball over
- Week 3: only beat the Pats with some help from the replacement refs and a blown call on the final FG
- Week 5: struggled to beat Kansas City 9-6
- Week 6: struggled to beat Dallas at home, 31-29
- Week 7: utterly annihilated by Houston
- Week 11: struggled to beat Pittsburgh with Byron Leftwich at QB, 13-10
- Week 12: only beat San Diego due to a freak 4th and 29 conversion and mass ineptitude on San Diego's part
- Week 13: couldn't close out Pittsburgh with Charlie Batch at home to win the division

One might ad in 2 reasonably close games against Cleveland, but I give the Ravens a pass on those as division games are always tough. But the Ravens really only looked good on opening day against Cincinnati, and against pathetic Oakland, who has made everyone look good.
