1) Red zone defense this year is the worst in 12 years. The defense is allowing 61.4% red zone TD and only worse times were 2002 ( no rush defense that year) with 63% and 2006 with 66.7%.
---------------------------
2) Red zone offense is also down this year with 57.7% compared to 60% (2017), 63.3% (2016)and 65.6%(2015) a noticeable year over year decline...
-------------------------------------------
3) ** First 7 games, Pats allowed four 300 yard passers.(Jax,Indy, KC,Chi)
Last 8 games, no 300 passers allowed while facing GB,Pitt and Minn.

4) First 7 games, defense allowed 400 yards total of five times.
Last 8 games, defense allowed 400 yards once.

5) This season the Patriots have failed to get a turnover in only 2 games,a turnaround from the last 2 years when they went 6 games each year without causing a turnover. From 2001 on, the number of games a team has not gotten a turnover in a season. (reg season only)

This red zone offense is killing us. Pats left 13 points on the field and off the scoreboard on Sunday, due partly to the continued inability to convert goal-to-go situations into TDs instead of FGs. Brady's INT at the Billiards' 25 almost qualified as a red zone screw-up also.

These stats are sad. I find it hard to believe that the Patriots have allowed this team to go downhill. Just my opinion.

I still love them and will continue my support.

Go Pats

1 and 2 are sad, 3 4 and 5 are good, 6 is neutral, and 7 only interests OP

If we hold jets to 17 or less this Sunday, that will be 5 of the last 6 games allowing 17 or less. The only exception being at Miami ‘s house of horrors

I think that because Brady is under so much pressure when passing, he has developed a bad case of happy feet in the pocket and consequently this has accounted to our red zone problems.

Its not just this year. It has been declining 2-3% every year since 2015. The decline between 2016-2017 was actually bigger.

Since Oct 28th...

Pats PPG allowed: 17.8
BAL PPG allowed: 20.3

Common Opponents: NE/BAL (absolute or %)
Pitt: 17/18.5
KC: 40/27
BUF: 9/3
TN: 34/0

NE: 21.8
BAL: 13.4

Net-net: I think BAL has a better D but its not like the NEP suck.

I went back to 2012.

RZ trips are down this season. The 2012 and 2017 seasons are outliers at 70 each. Between 2012 and 2016, the offense averaged 63.25 RZ trips. So far 2018 has been an outlier in the other direction, with only 52 RZ trips.

In terms of RZ TD%, though, if the Pats go just 2-for-2 against the Jets on Sunday, their RZ scoring % jumps up to 63%, which is about their average for the 2012-2017 period.

Also, scoring from outside the RZ is much higher this season - 30% of all TDs versus an 18% average for the 2012-2017 period.

OTOH, total TDs are down - 43 so far versus an average of 48 for the period 2013-2017 (2012 was an outlier with 59 total TDs). And that 43 TDs for 2018 also includes one defensive score and 2 ST scores, IIRC.

Red zone is bad because the quarterback bails on almost every throw or crumbles into a ball when he feels pressure. Red zone is also bad because McDaniels is very predictable inside the 20...run, run, pass 10 yards over a receivers head...

Neither of those are the chief reasons the red zone offense is bad.

Here's one more.
With the win last week, Belichick passed George Halas for all time winning percentage, playoffs included....
Halas 318-148-31 winning % .68240 and 6-3 playoffs--- total 324-151-31.... .6821
BB 260-123 winning percentage.6788 and 28-11 playoffs--total 288-134.. ..... .68246

Brady has won 11 games in a year, three times in his career, 2001, 2014 (JAG/Brissett were 3-1) and 2018...
Oh yeah, they won the Super Bowl the other 2 times.........
-------------------------------------------------------
None of the 4 (EDIT 5- still trying to forget Miami game) teams the Pats lost to this year made the playoffs.
That sort of happened in 2003 when the team went 14-2 and the two losses were to Buf and Wash, neither of whom made the playoffs that year......
