Stallworth to be charged with DUI Manslaughter - could spend 15 years in prison

Horrible situation all the way around. Obviously I can't say I feel bad for Stallworth given what happened but I liked him when he was here and it makes me sad.

It was a bad decision which will carry consequences for Stallworth. I'm sure he has gone over it in his head thousands of times wanting to take that morning back. But he can't, he can also not bring back the man he killed and the family's suffering he caused. Just a sad case for everyone involved.

Should be interesting.

This is really sad. Reflect on how just one evening's misjudgement can ruin another family forever and hose over your own life as well. My sympathies to all.

Agreed on all counts.

Ouch, that is truly sad. But I guess he deserves it, just a lesson that you can never be careful enough when you're out and about. Even if you feel you can drive drunk (I'm sure Stallworth has done it before), just not a good idea.

Any detail anywhere on the accident? Did he run a red light? What a sad waste all the way around. I see no wiggle room for Donte on this unless, possibly, the pedestrian was trying to cross when he shouldn't have.

When you chose to get behind the wheel after alcohol I have no sympathy. I'm sure he regrets that and will do for the rest of his life.

I'll never understand why these guys don't use drivers when they party

he prob just stopped thinking, drinking does that. i feel bad for everyone involved

If normal people earning normal wages can afford a taxi when drunk, then surely a professional football player earning millions a year can afford one.

It baffles me.

Apparently he "flashed" his lights at the pedestrian but still took the time to hit him. Guess he couldn't bother to "step" on his breaks. But I wasn't there so who knows.

I really wonder what the rules are if Donte was not drunk but was fumbling through his radio to get a station or looking downward to grab a cigarette but still was not looking forward to see a pedestrian and hit the guy

Would he get off easy with an unintentional accident?

What is the difference in law between vehicular manslaughter and DUI manslaughter? - I assume if he was not drunk he would have still received a few years in prison for reckless/irresponsible driving.

What a bunch of Bleeding Heart Liberals...always having sympathy and a kind heart for the criminal perpetrator.

Think of the person you love the most in this life...a wife, a child, a brother and etc...now Dante runs over your loved one while drunk...still have all that sympathy for him? This is NOT a tragedy for Dante and his family it is a tragedy for the guy who is buried in dirt and his family.

I gather you're one of those who have never had 3 drinks in an hour, and then driven home

This is a tragedy for ALL involved. 2 people were involved, and could've prevented this, but fate stepped in. AND NO, i have no sympathy for CRIMINALS, but for a human being that made a mistake, yes. Its not like Dante purchased a gun, and set out to kill someone. He made a mistake. It was an accident.

This is why I want to hear more details about what happened. Donte is guilty no matter what, but it could be mitigated to some degree regarding his sentence. I want to know if the victim was crossing the street legally, how dark it was, and whether Donte ran a red light. For all we know the victim himself was drunk and shouldn't have been a pedestrian at the time of the accident. It'll be interesting to hear what his defense lawyer comes up with.

I completely agree. He broke the law, and will be punished, but we havent heard much of anything about the victim. I don't want to come across as insensitive, but what was the guy doing, and thinking? When I'm crossing the road, im looking everywhere. Probably because i've almost been run over a few times. So although i agree Donte was wrong in his decision, I find it kinda harsh that people want him fry in the electric chair (which was a theme in the other thread)
