Speculation - Brandon Marshall to be dealt in March

Marshall's contract is up, so I don't know where the "deal" notion is coming from, especially in conjunction with the notion of signing him to a 1 or 2 year deal.

Marshall will be an RFA and likely tendered with the high tender, requiring a 1st and 3rd. The team can "settle" for a first with the next lower tender.

There can be no negotiations between teams and Denver for Marshall, since Marshall will be unsigned.

However, if a Marshall and a team have a deal and want to offer Denver a 1st and a 5th to remove th tender, Denver could take the deal. However, this would take Marshall's cooperation which is unlikely to be given.

Here are the highlights of Marshall's altrications:

2004 - Assaulted a police officer
2007 - Was with Darrent Williams when he was shot. It was rumored that the shooting was a retaliation due to an altrication between the shooter and Marshall and his cousin.
2007 - Arrested for Domestic violence
2007 - DUI
2008 - The Rocky Mountain News reported that the police had been called to his house 11 times since 2006 for domestic violence issues although no charges were ever filed
2008 - Commits misdemeanor battery
2009 - Arrested for disorderly conduct because of a fight between him and his girlfriend

Exactly how is this like Moss and his pot charge and an isolated incident in college. Marshall is a violent person who is a ticking timebomb. He could be the next OJ if he doesn't straighten his life out. Why would you want this scum on this team.

You fail to mention that in the 2007 domestic violence case, the charges were dismissed. In 2008, the misdemeanor battery case, the jury found him not guilty. In 2009 the disorderly conduct charges were dropped a day later.

It also says that of the 11 times they have called his house, only once was he arrested, and some issues didn't even involve him.

I'm not saying he's a great person, but I do not consider him scum like you do. How do you know that some of the incidents with his girlfriends actually happened and they weren't just looking for money? How do you his girlfriend didn't attack him first? You have no idea.

Since the 2009 charge for disorderly conduct which was dropped the next day, Marshall hasn't had any legal problems. He's had problems with McDaniels. McDaniels came in a little arrogant for some people. He came in with a sense of entitlement like he was an established veteran coach. Marshall did act immature but it was due to the frustration of not being traded or extended long term in addition to Cutler being traded.

As the season went on, McDaniels and Marshall seemed to rehab their relationship until this latest incident. I blame McDaniels for this last one. Deactiviating him for being late for rehab? Grow up and stop treating Marshall like a baby.

Most domestic violence cases are dismissed. Why? Because the victims rarely cooperate with the police because either they are afraid of their abuser who lives with them or they have a form of stockholm syndrome where they convince themselves that their abuser loves them and will change.

He's really a great guy and just beats his girlfriends because they deserve it every once and a while. Sorry, any professional athlete (or male) that hits a woman is a scumbag. Brandon Marshall is 6-4, 230lbs all muscle. Really not a fair fight for a woman who is probably 5-7 or under and not even a buck fifty.

I do have to commend Marshall for not getting in trouble with the law for a whole ten months. Clearly he is rehabbed. Not single incident in nearly a year. He must have found God or something.

As for blaming McDaniels, we have no idea what led up to this point. It probably was not an isolated incident and it was the final straw. Also, a condition for Marshall getting back his money might have been to agree to a whole host of rules that he violated.

Sorry, Marshall is a scumbag. He beats women. He lives a life of violence. Don't want him. Only a matter of time before Goodell gives him a several month unpaid vacation from the NFL.

1. I never said Marshall has all of a sudden become a great guy and has rehabbed.. I'm saying he has not done anything for the last 10 months, and while it is a small sample, it's still progress. He knows that he is on thin ice and maybe he is starting to mature.

2. You say that blaming McDaniels is inaccurate because we have no idea what lead up to this point. Isn't that the case with your opinion on Marshall's legal troubles? He has never been convicted or spent time in jail. You have no idea what led up to those events or how any of those events started, yet you are making the assumption that all of them involve Marshall being the scumbag who causes trouble. Truth is, you have no idea of the relationship between him and his girlfriends or what happened at the club that night.

3. Is he the greatest person? No. Is he an elite talent? Yes. Would I take the chance adding him for a 2nd round pick? Yes. Has he made progress in staying out of trouble? Yes. Chris Henry was involved in many off field incidents, and this year everyone was talking about how he had finally matured and put his past behind him. A guy that was pure scum was Pacman Jones. He couldn't help himself even after he was suspended for extended periods of time and is now out of the league. Marshall hasn't reached that point yet and I personally don't think he will. I think he was a little brash and arrogant coming out of college and felt like he was invincible. He came into the league and pretty much instantly had success. I think he's been humbled a little bit by the penalties handed down by Goodell and realizing no player is more important than the team. When you hear him interviewed now he says the right things about being committed to his team and saying nothing but good things about his coaches and management.

1. Do you expect that Marshall even if he was the most evil player ever to play the NFL to get arrested multiple times on any given 10 month period? I'm sure there are gang members who deal in violent crime on a daily or weekly basis who do not get arrested that often.

2. We have plenty of incidents to judge Marshall and his illegal activities. McDaniels has had problems with two players and we have video evidence that Marshall is at least just as to blame as McDaniels or more.

3. Football is just a game. It is entertainment. Abusing women is real life. I have no desire to give my time and money to contribute towards making a guy like that richer than he could have ever imagined. It still sickens me that Dave Meggett was ever part of this team. It would sicken me if Brandon Marshall ever joined this team. I wouldn't stop being a fan, but I would not be happy.

Personally, I think there are plenty of other WRs that will be available that do not come with his baggage which is probably the most of any WR currently in the NFL.

Enough of the reclamation projects. We already have too many of those on the team. Let's get some solid team, "do your job" first guys like Givens.

I am really surprised that some people think BB will call Josh and ask that he trade him BM. What will be the good words JM will use to describe BM?
LOL. If you can't get along with the spit image of the master how can you get along with the master himself?
I think his next stop should be the Bengals. I don't know why I think he will fit there.

Brandon Marshall is a cancer. He's a very good player - but a cancer. We don't need to take a risk on people like him.

Let him go and play with his buddy in Chicago.

Great point a quick look reveals he will indeed be a (unrestricted?) free agent..
2009: $2.198 million, 2010: Free Agent
Most likely the Broncos will have to franchise him and have him sign the tender if they wish to trade him...which most likely will have its fair share of problems.

Full of himself or does he physically have a big melon?

No, his helmet is literally very small.
