Some good words about Talib

ya and it's going to hurt them when he walks next year

I'd have to guess that odds are you'll be right. Of course Talib could get injured or have a poor year also, which would point to him being the one that loses out on the multi year gamble.

We shall see...

My guess is that we'll have to go back to the old drafting well yet again come springtime.

Re: Re: Some good words about Talib

I doubt it. Devin McCourty will get the long term extension not Aqib Talib. Only so many high dollar contracts to go around in the salary cap era.

With Dowling busting officially if Talib walks that would make CB the top draft priority in my opinion.

Yeah 20 PD, 4 INT's, and 6 fumbles isn't too shabby

A former safety who is sound in run support would be key also for this type of defense.
Versatile:

While competitive and alert, Ekpre-Olomu is not an elite cover corner. He possesses enough athleticism to remain at the position in the NFL but relies on vision, timing and hand-eye coordination rather than extraordinary speed or fluidity to shut down opponents, demonstrating the ability to play off, press and zone coverage with the Ducks. Ekpre-Olomu possesses broad shoulders and a well-built frame overall and is sound in run-support, making him one of the better all-around cornerback prospects in the country.

Good to hear that kind of news on Talib. Hope the guy stays healthy. I think he, Dennard and Arrington should be a solid group...Ryan as well.

Am very worried about our safeties though and ability to defend the pass as a whole.

And already we are moving on from Talib. Good knowing you buddy, thanks for the ring.

Wait, this isn't 2014 yet??

Hey Snarky...quit the mularkey...

He works somewhere else man...

I think he is buddies with Tom Petty or something.

yeah i don't get it

He's saying that we should enjoy the upcoming season while Talib is still here, rather than worrying and speculating about him leaving. After all, there's a chance that he could be retained.

High hopes for Talib and his health this season. He's by far the most polished defensive back on our roster. Wish we could develop one of our own.

That said, is all of this "wait until he performs well and the Pats let him walk rather than pay him" talk anything more than snark?

Aqib Talib, New England Patriots agree to contract - NFL.com

"cashing in" and "home town discount" do not equate.

Neither do two reporters, or sources equal talib's own words (those would be indicated by quotes).

Of course he hopes to get a better offer based on his one year production.

There is no such thing as a home town discount, it's a figment of your imagination. Location, team character and salary are all considerations of every player.

Take heart. If he's injured, or plays horrible, we get to keep him. Of course, if he plays well, he has to hold us up for a fortune and we can't possibly agree to a contract.

Talib is also a huge fan of this team, have heard a few stories about him roaming the sidelines singing the praises of the offense when they make a play..

INOW a team player...

Being traded to the Patriots was the best thing that could have happened to Talib. His time here has totally rehabilitated his image leaguewide. (Remember how controversial the signing of this "team player" was on this very board?)

He still has something big left to prove if he wants a top-dollar multiyear deal anywhere, though: he has to prove his legs can survive a full season.

Remember the rhetoric about the demise of the media fantasy term, "Patriot Way"?????
