So the D is definitely coming together, but the O hasn't sold me yet

I don't think this game can really be used to support the OP opinion.

Moss had the Vikings very well prepared for our passing game today.

Someone with Moss's intelligence and knowledge can do that.

In spite of that we still managed 28 points ... which is around our per game average.

We have scored 205 points and only 3 teams have scored more.

This offense is scoring enough to get us deep into the playoffs IMO.

Specifically GB and Chicago if you want to see bad offensive line play...that will get a QB killed....

GB's line has struggled the last two seasons. But I think both QB's hold onto the ball far to long. Cutler takes a 5 to 7 step drop on the majority of his pass plays. Martz is an idiot for calling plays that require that, his receivers are not that good in addition to poor O-line. Mix in the fact that Cutler is terrible, add all that up and you get the 2010 Chicago Bears.

His presser was interesting in that regard. It sounded as if he was saying the Vikings ignored his help on this. Very strange. He's an interesting member of the species.

I will answer your sarcastic question with a sarcasm answer.

No.

O-line performance a strength? Or a weakness disguised by a great QB getting rid of the ball effectively. The O-line looked surprisingly well throughout the first couple of games then Cameron Wake clearly exposed some weaknesses, then came Baltimore who it was pretty fair game considering that team is built to collapse the O-line, then came San Diego. The O-line was massacred. The O-line was having problems in the first half of this game also.

Mankins add a WHOLE new piece to that O-line, his fill in is doing his job, BEING a fill in, struggles as a full time starter.

Ahh no

Watch the games, The "collapse" in San Diego was equally if not more TB holding the ball.

You really need to study up.

6 Teams scored more than 28 points today. We did it against the 5th ranked scoring defense in the NFL.

The Patriots have played some pretty good defenses the last few weeks:

Minnesota, San Diego, Baltimore, Miami...and how have they responded? By winning each game. Has it all be on the offense, no. There have been turnovers, kick returns, etc but the offense has done its part against those four teams in a stretch where a lot of people would have been happy with and maybe even expected 2-2.

And those three teams have yet to have their bye (Tenn SD Oak), having played 8 games to the Pats 7....

28 legit points from our offense tonight. They lead the league in scoring. LOL, what's there not to be sold about? BTW BJGE and Woodhead also looked very legit in addition to all the talent we have at WR and TE. The only real question I have is can Neal stay healthy? Because when he plays well, the offense will play well.

Is our offense leading in scoring?

In a word, YES. This has been commented on so often, I'm surprised there's still a Pats fan who doesn't know about it.

We're inconsistent. When the play calling is balanced and inventive, which it is once in a while now, the execution is crisp and puts the D back on their heels.

We rarely come out and march down the field and score like we used to every game, forcing the D to adjust and readjusting ourselves.

When Brady took that broken play where he was running for his life and found Tate, then they ran and stuck with it for a while, they looked like a different team out there.

Obviously, great execution is part of it, but when the defense is in the backfield before Brady secures the ball, or sniffs out the run because it's so predictable, of course things get sluggish.

Much better at times, but teams spend a week preparing for us. If they know what we're running as soon as we do, we need to take advantage of their overplay now, not two quarters later.

Doesn't sound like it, but I'm encouraged with the adjustments when they're made. Much better. However, if we're seriously going for it this year, and it sure looks that way, there's got to me another level of improvement.

Playoffs have the best defenses and the defense has a tremendous advantage, especially if you're predictable. We should know that.

Freaking amazing to make a run with this team, I'm so psyched.

I was just chatting with a buddy of mine who lives and breathes Vikings - He thought that Brady got too much time!!

Sometimes, you need the opposition to point out how well your team played. Personally, I thought that the offense looked sluggish in the first half and got better in the second half. Tate's play was a lucky break.

All in all, the SD game and the Minny game have shown a sluggish side of the offense. I guess that is natural, given the departure of Moss. Suddenly, those open receivers are now being covered tighter. I am sure it has not been easy for Brady to adapt - buy adapt quickly and do well, he will.

My feelings for the D have improved quite a bit since the first three games. You all know what I mean.

I think once Mankins comes back in, then our offense will start to REALLY click. The O-line has just been to inconsistent, not to say Brady hasn't been at fault a bit, but the O-line week in and week out needs to be held responsible.

Taylor should be back soon as well, that should help our run game significantly thus opening more of the Pass game.

Um, what? Outside of the SD game, Connolly has been very solid. And today, BJGE ran for 100+ against a perennially top-5 rushing defense. Really curious if you watch the games, or just pay attention to big names.

I'm curious about how the OP feels about the Pitt offense that thus far is averaging one point a quarter vs the vaunted Saints D that just got owned by Colt McCoy and the Browns.

Aikmen kind of disparaged the offense a bit today, saying well a lot of those points have come from special teams and defense. To an extent he's right, but it's nice to see the O matching the season average on its own.

I guess you flunked arithmetic in school. According to the table you posted, our OFFENSE scored 170 points or 24.3 points per game. TENN's offense has scored 220 points or 27.5 points per game.

Surely you didn't count the returns and defensive touchdowns and associated extra points as part of offensive production.

.YES[/url]. This has been commented on so often, I'm surprised there's still a Pats fan who doesn't know about it.

How in hell do you improve on 125 yards and 3 TD's by the BJGE/Woodhead duo tonight?

when he didn't I was very pleased with his quickness and evasive maneuvers.

I would personally recommend to all those posters out there to stop behaving like spoiled brats and star enjoying the re-birth of the dynasty.

It gets on my nerves how everyone thinks the offense sucks for not putting up 2007-like numbers. I think we should recognize that 2007 was fun to watch, but it did not get us any Super Bowl. The old patriot-way did it.

And what pisses me off even more is that half the posters here seem not to remember the Patriot Way, or certainly didn't watch it by themselves. Back in the old days we had "ugly" wins. The offense didn't put up big numbers, they just scored as many points as were necessary. The defense allowed a lot of yards and completions during the game, but they came up big when it mattered.

That's how we won... Playing smart football and focusing on getting the W and not the 300-yd performance or the 3rd down conversion record.

We should be thankful because we just witnessed how in 2 years the team just re-built and how is getting loaded with young talent. And we did it while also staying as contenders.

And the best of all, the Patriot way is coming back, that in which you certainly get the win no matter how "ugly" the team looked. At the end, what matters is the W column and not the defensive 3rd down conversion rate and other superflous stats.

Why in the blue hell is it every time someone says something negative about the offense, its because 2007 skewed their expectations or because they want that 2007 style back? That routine is getting quite old.
