I actually find this oddly re-assuring, because if Deflategate was actually a serious violation (like steroids or domestic violence) then you'd never see it become a joke in a tv commercial.

I agree with the OP. The more this kind of stuff happens, the more the whole episode is exposed for the joke it was. Not that what happened to Brady was funny, but is no way is this going to tarnish the player and person he is down the line.
