I believe this is the first thread that I have started. I always get nervous starting new threads on any forum because I feel like I am doing something wrong. Anyways, I remain cautiously optimistic that things will straighten out. But my point is going to be short and sweet. The NFL is a constantly evolving game. And whats the thing that has remained the same throughout its evolution? Championships are won by teams that win in the trenches. And the bottom line right now is that the 2014 New England Patriots just are not very good on the Defensive or Offensive Line. Hopefully things work out. I have faith they will, but there is plenty of reason to be worried.

There is certainly plenty of reason to be worried. That said, there is also plenty of reason to feel that they can still win the division and take it one game at a time in the postseason too.

The trenches are obviously a very important part of the game of football, and the decision to trade Mankins before we even play one down in the post-Scarnecchia era is odd as far as the timing goes.

The lack of a rotational DE again is also very concerning. To me, it seems as though there were several positional concerns when the 2013 season was finished, and we didn't do enough to address them. As a matter of fact, we actually made the interior offensive line worse.

Providing yet another position of need in the first rd that BB will draft for, prompting the ire of those who believe that WRx should have been drafted?

I agree though, it's a huge concern, and I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Bill draft a DE within the first 2 rounds.... In fact, after a LG (gotta replace Mankins), it's the position I'd most like to see redressed. If the Pats aren't winning with Brady, so be it (as sad as it makes me, since my desire to see Brady win #4 is almost as strong as my desire to see the Pats win a SB).. But they damn well better have a long term plan for the prospective JAG era.
