With Bryan Stork inactive for personal reasons, David Andrews filled void

Tidbits include:
  • Amendola really was the #3 receiver (and then of course he got injured), with Martin as #2.
  • Williams played ~3/4 of the snaps as #2 TE.
  • Slater took 1 snap for LaFell when he needed a breather.
  • There was a 3-guard rotation. Kline took 15 snaps for Mason and 5 for Jackson.
  • Andrews of course played for Stork.
  • Bolden was yanked entirely from STs.
  • Richards played ~50% of the snaps. Ebner also got a bunch of snaps at safety, apparently as Chung's backup. Wilson only took a few snaps.
  • Johnson played over Coleman, but there were 3 safeties more often than there were 3 CBs.
  • The number of snaps Coleman had is the same as the number Butler missed, namely 3.

They are treating Coleman with kid gloves.

James White 22 snaps?? He did all that damage on only 22 snaps says he needs to be on the field even more.

Leonard Johnson wasn't targeted. Another solid game for the scrappy cornerback.

Only 17 snaps, but still impressive. He was cslled for holding on one play though.

If Johnson is another quality corner, our nickel defense will be even better.

Keshawn Martin have been somewhat of a tease in our Offense at this point I expected a little more from him receiving 55 snaps. Hopefully Leonard Hankerson gets up to speed.

If Johnson is another quality corner, our nickel defense is awesome.

And that holding call was questionable to say the least.

Slater is so good at beating multiple jammers in his role as gunner that I wonder why he has never been able to show up in a WR role (aside from the occasional Hail Mary attempt). Is it that he can't actually catch the ball? I don't recall seeing him drop catchable balls.

Love to see him with a comeback route down the sideline - I'd bet anything he'd be wide open with the covering corner still heading for the endzone when the ball is thrown.

This was obviously a sub-is-the-new-base game, with 5 DBs/2 LBs being the norm.

I believe that we've averaged 2.2 LB's on the field over the past couple of years. The 3rd LB isn't a big role. Of course, since 1-2 have been injured all year, we have seen a lot of Mayo and Freeney (with Collins and Hightower as the LB's when we play nickel).

Slater completely sucks at tracking the ball and catching the ball.

We were in base and big nickel a lot early on due to the 2 TE sets the Titans use. When Hightower went out we switched to almost exclusively a big nickel with Jordan Richards or Tavon Wilson coming on at Safety. Leonard Johnson would come in as the 5th DB in certain passing situations.

Hmmm Akiem Hicks 33 snaps......he is performing very well..hope we keep him...
I worry about his motivation. He is in a contract year, he best play like he is doing. What will become of him after he gets the contract he is looking for? The Saint's complaint about him is that he mailed some plays in.

My understanding is that they misused him and there was some Saints coaches doing some CYA.

And his return complaint was that he played fort he Saints.

I really hope they keep the guy. He is a force.

The holding call was complete BS. Harry Douglas tried to duck underneath Johnson and fell on his face.. Yet they called Johnson for holding despite his arms being above Douglas' back.

Random question but was Ebner's tackle in this game when he was playing safety or was it on Special teams?
