I wonder how the cap situation would look if they had picked up Revis and Browner's options? Probably would have been better than having neither a number 1 or 2 corner.
Urgh, 5 hours later and I'm still really pissed off.
Very roughly about $12M over, meaning you're cutting a number of other players just to get under the cap so the NFL actually approves picking up those options. Basically, not a chance.I wonder how the cap situation would look if they had picked up Revis and Browner's options? Probably would have been better than having neither a number 1 or 2 corner.
My CB contingency plan is by getting a DLine that can get after the passer. We will most likely be playing Cover2/3, so get some beasts up front. Hopefully Easley has a breakout year.
Honestly, losing Revis had to be WORST case scenario on BB's mind, but for him to sign DMac before, he had to have a plan.
In Bill We Trust
EDIT: Browner is a cover 3 corner, let's get a zone corner and line up and play. Logan Ryan was great two years ago in a predominately zone defensive scheme. Browner, Ryan, draftee/FA CB, and Butler? That is good enough with the cap space we have to spend on the OLine, Harvin?, Spiller/Bush, etc.
One day into Free Agency and Belichick has screwed up? This is why I am glad fans don't run teams.I don't care what anyone says, letting Browner go was a mistake. If anything, he had some trade value with that very minimal contract. On top of that, we have most of the personal to run a successful cover 3 just like seattle does. We could've taken Byron jones at 32 who would make a great cover 3 corner. But NO, now we have a bunch of under sized corners, and a patrick chung who has no business being in a true cover 2 scheme. I know were supposed to trust in BB, but Ive been following his every move for a long time, and I really think he might have screwed up on this one.

In all seriousness, I wonder when Belichick really realized that Revis wasn't coming back.
That's a million dollar question we're not likely to know the answer to.
The best possible outcome was a Revis extension followed by a Browner extension. Once it became apparent that the Jets had offered Revis a ridiculous amount of guarantees, the best possible outcome was removed from the table.Im not saying he screwed up to the point where we are doomed, but I think he might have mishandled the process, to the point where we no longer have a chance at the best possible outcome.
You gotta mix it up on defense. You cant play zone the whole game. Problem here is the personnel when it comes to man coverage. Finally have a steady secondary and its alll gone in one night.
By the way, what a sh!t new websie update, worthlessmoing ads take years to load, t is crapo
Today, I am ashamed to be a Patriot fan....if you cannot afford to keep this guy you must be fkin dumb, use Chung now, the seahwaks sign graham and Williams and we lose revis, wilfork, browner maybe, and sign scrubs Arrington, mcsorly or whatever his name is...fkin pathetic decisions, im disgusted I want to barf
Stick this crappy new site and those picks in kafts ass
They made it to those Superbowls because of Brady, not the secondary. Then they lost those Superbowls because they didn't have a secondary that could close it out. Last year the had a secondary that could and DID close it out.
